Nice one Lapis ;)

how long did the sketch take you, and how long did it take you to color it in?
The sketch took me 30-60 minutes. After scanning I drew a clean set of lines over it using my tablet, and the rest of the time was spent on colouring and fixing up messy areas.

If anyone is interested, I can post a step by step tutorial on how to achieve this effect.

Michal Zvajgackzwjywowski, not Marcinkowski. Well, on the old forums, their last names were the same. My mistake.

I updated the first post with my tutorial (seems like I'll do anything to avoid working on polyworks  ::)).

I figured Keron, I just didn't want to get it wrong, so I exaggerated.

Lurve the tutorial. I learned a couple new things from that :)
Don't worry about Polyworks, it's fine the way it is (minus a few ideas I have, but they're not necessary).

I am extremely jealous you have access to a tablet. What brand of tablet was it? I only have access to a mouse, which doesn't produce the same, unfortunately.

Tone down the glow effects just a  tad.

Everything looks nice, except the pose. Unless, she is suppose to be sneaking, it looks a bit unnatural. Everything else is very very nice.

^It's a concept sketch, she's supposed to be floating there, showing all details, as if she were a character design for some 3d rpg.

Edit: I've never used paths, so I'm a bit confused by this part:
Quote
Do this if you don't have a tablet and using the mouse isn't precise enough.
Draw some paths with the pen tool: Which pen tool, the freeform?

Right click and select Stroke Path from the menu: right click what, and where's the menu?
[/s]

Edit 2: Nevermind, I got it.

EDIT: tutorial tiem!

This tutorial assumes some familiarity with Photoshop. I used Photoshop 7.0 for this but it should be similar enough to use with later versions. I put alternate methods for people without a tablet/scanner/paper/pencil.

I suppose GIMP was the alias for that version, right?
