It's nothing close to a submachine gun.  That's just foolishness.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

Geez, if you guys don't like the m79, look for weapons mod servers that don't allow it.  If you're not willing to do that, stop complaining and learn to dodge.

The m79 isn't a "god" weapon.  It's annoying when you get killed in one hit, but it's simple enough to evade the shot.  If you can dodge the first hit, you should be able to kill the m79er.  If you can't dodge, learn to dodge.  If you don't want to learn to dodge, get a weapon with a longer range then the m79.  If you don't know how to use that sort of weapon, learn how.  If you don't want to learn how, you shouldn't be playing this game.

My favorite weapon is the ruger.  I like it mainly because it can kill anyone in two hits, but also because it renders the m79 completely ineffective.  The only time I am ever hit with an m79 shot is when I'm going backwards and shooting, so I can't see what's behind me.  I admit that's my fault, and I have no problem getting killed in that situation.  Other than that, the ruger allows me to kill m79ers before they get in range.

Because of my weapon choice, I'm never bothered by m79s.  If your short range, 50 hit kill weapon doesn't work, DON'T USE IT!  I've said it before, but the point apparently needs to be reemphasized.  If you're not willing to adjust your strategy, then don't complain when it doesn't work.

To prove my point, I'll take on anyone, 1 vs 1, who is using the m79.  Send me a personal message if you're interested.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

I mostly agree, but a bit of the complaining is justified since the M79 benefits from on-line inconsistencies. All those kamikaze killers just shouldn't survive, yet they do and in great numbers. Sure you can dodge the shot, but sometimes even a successful dodge means death. While other weapons are hurt by lag on-line (looking at you, 4-5 hit Ruger  >:( ), the M79 thrives off it. Hopefully something could be done to help the way the data packets or sent or something, since all the reload time in the world won't stop people from complaining about dying the same deaths regardless.

I've said before that I think all complaints stem from CTF, where most people are racing blinding into enemy territory. Blazing straight into an unknown enemy is a poor strategy, but CTF encourages it by design. I really don't see any DM players complaining about the M79, since any M79 user will be swisscheese in most fights there. However, in the typical one-on-one encounters in CTF, the M79 will have an advantage that goes beyond its built-in limits.

I agree. You really think a lot about this, don't you? I personally think more bink would help.

Personally I never have much trouble with the M79 but I've noticed that slowly everyone I plat CTF with is using it and the matches are taking a long time to finish.
Teammate 1 spawns
Enemy 1 spawns
Close range shot
Teammate 1 dead
Enemy 1 dead
I feel that the M79 should take longer to reload and do less damage so it does'nt slow down matches.

If you get shot that often you are just having a severe case of tunnelsight^^ You shouldn't focus on your target so much that you doesn't notice the m79!
My aim sucks.

My tactic I suggest for you if there are alot of m79er's blasting the base...

1.Longe Range weaponry

Berret them from a distance keep your distance, especially if there many at enemy base, nothing wrong with (advancing in the opposite direction) KEEP YOU DISTANCE, if they are noobs with m79 they wont be able to touch you, Get the berret make your shot, keep Soccom in handy.

2. Dodge the damn grenade shot

TRY TO STAY ABOVE THEM!!! Keep your distance, if you end up on the ground
use the Back Roll Jet (Down, right-left, hover) That usually throws them off aim and take your shot.

Even when you are trying your best...You are gonna die sooner or later so dont get all pissed off, it happens..Just get kills before you die.

That's really obvious. The trouble is that Soldat is fast-paced where people prefer to rush, not adapt to someone else. Causious play is more for RS games.

I suggest a longer reload time... Make it so they can't afford to miss, that way only the more skilled people will use it- and not every newb and noob that comes in.

It IS a problem, but an easy fix.
