Soldat Resizer by Troop v1.0.2
« on: June 26, 2006, 09:20:12 am »
Soldat Resizer

What does it do?
She resizes your non-fullscreen Soldat to fit your screen! Just swicth Full Screen -option off from Soldat's Config

Why?
To avoid very annoying flickering when you minimize Soldat or alt+tab

Some Instructions:
Run the program, set your settings (most likely press "Get current Resolution" :p), and press OK. Then application will minimize to tray next to your clock. To restore it from the tray, double click it, if you didn't select autoresize, then click tray icon with left mouse button to resize, when you run Soldat. You can also double click on application to minimize it to tray.

That's all for now on.

Feel free to post about suggestion or bugs(which it might have a lot -beware)

Here's a little screen:

If you wanna replace that really crappy icon, feel free to post it here, or pm me.

Hmm.. seems nice!

If it's not set to Auto resize Soldat, then it won't work.

I hope it doesn't considered as a hack.

Nice idea. I use 1600x1200 resolution myself, so this means that Soldat has 6.25 more rasterizing work to do when rendering, but my FPS was still 250-300, and 100 with 30 bots in Arena2, so I'll be using this.
However there is one VERY ANNOYING BUG which is why I don't keep this program open all the time in tray. The balloon tip with "Soldat resized to 1200x960" basically pops in EVERY 5 SECONDS even if Soldat is not running. It drives me crazy. Other than that, nice work.

EDIT. Btw if this isn't happening to you, it might be because I have one other application that extensively uses balloon tips. My guess is that the other program is trying to show a balloon tip at the same time yours is showing its, and somehow it's coded so that the balloon isn't "unregistered" by your application. If you could fix it, that'd be great though.

Set your resolution to 1280x960 (or any multiple of 640x480) to remove slight texture misstretching at the top of the screen. This is cool, cause now I can play full at 200 fps with 20 bots, so long as they don't all have miniguns.

I used some other similar program before I formated my computer and it works like the same thing except it used cmd I think.

Anyway, great job on this and I am gonna use this everytime I play Soldat cause my full screen don't work. :)

EDIT: I am getting an error when it tries to resize my soldat:

Run-time error '13':

i must admit while it does work, it is quite buggy.  problems i have:

1)The size of the menu when starting is in windowed on the top left, but when you enter a game it works fine

2)The popup from the task mamager is spelled wrong, and it will not stop poping up until i join a game, i cannot close it, that sound drives me crazy.

3)When you exit a game, the last screen from that game stays in the backround since it goes back to windowed style yet stil fullscreen (see #1)

thats pretty much it

Ho ho ho... I got it working just fine... yummy. It's great. Now I have to re-learn how to shoot and throw, since I just got used to widescreen -.-

edit:

To get it working:

Run Soldat Resizer.
Set the resolution you desire (I'm using 1024x768 which just fits on my widescreen).
Set the new screen positions to be something greater than 0 (I use 1 and 1 so the top left is in the corner of my screen).
Disable 'Auto Resize Soldat'.
Run Soldat in windowed mode.
Re-enable 'Auto Resize Soldat', then disable it again.
Click on Apply to close the Soldat Resizer window.

This seems to work fine, online and offline.
I haven't encountered any problems, except for soldat staying in 640x480 until you enter a game, and the error you get when the screen position settings are 0 and 0, neither of which are really much of a problem. Hope to see it fixed soon though.

Good job Troop  :D

You cant stretch the menu windows because that's where MM put them, this program just expands the window space. The reason why the game plays in the whole area is directx related and i cant be bothered figuring it out.

If the bubble is annoying, close it?

And if you're talking about when it keeps popping up non-stop, just deselect the Auto resize box, and it shuts up.

^It doesn't make any visible difference. To test it out, press ctrl-esc to open the start menu. If it worked, the start menu should open on top of soldat without flickering the screen.

Erm.. you're running it in windowed mode, right? It resizes your windowed mode Soldat, so you don't have to play in a tiny little box in windowed mode.

I downloaded this little app, and it really hasn't made any difference to my soldat what so ever....it might be because I have a widescreen....is there any way to fix that?

I have widescreen too... and it doesn't matter at all, as long as you're running in Windowed mode.

^It doesn't make any visible difference.

Er... what?

I got something to say, if you run this game using the window mode+ change the resolution, IT IS THE SAME AS RUNNING FULL SCREEN. It is not a hack, and it doesn't change your aiming ability, trust me I've seen the difference (the only difference is better graphic i guess).

Relax, it will be the same as running full screen, won't affect the playability of the game. Try it first before you make comments okay? :P

Well, they are treating the bug like a hack. Anyway, they seem eager for the bug to be fixed, which does not affect anything at all on aiming ability (check their posts, post 24 :P).

Rambo... do you disable the "auto resize soldat" option after it's resized? Because that's what I do to stop it from popping up all the time. If it's disabled when you start soldat, just click on it twice.

Solution to the runtime error is very simple. Just enter zeros in the 'position from left' and 'position from top' boxes. Troop, a suggestion.. add some sanity checks, that problem was really obvious.

I did try it, and after doing something (not going to say what, cause I don't want everyone doing it), it extends your view and allows you to see much more than the average soldaten, even farther than a sniper.

I say remove the link.

It does not extend your view as everything is rendered on the same scale. (Just fits your screen) I did not notice any extended vision while using the resizer. Edit: Ah. You had to do something. Nevermind. But I still have yet to find a way for it to do so :P
