Windows 2000, the best OS made by Microsoft. I used it for years and it has never crashed. To bad I changed it for XP. I didn't use Linux except for a live distro of Ubuntu, so I can't say much about it (only that it has to many rabid fanboys).

My favorite operating system is Ubuntu. It's the only OS with it's own physical partition on my PC. The other ones run off my (legit copy of) VMWare Workstation.

Windows os good, its what I use, but I prefer mac. I don't care what you guys say, its awesome!!!
It's sleek(er than Windows) and I've never had a single problem with Macintosh. To bad OSX won't install on my IBM...I want windows and MacOSX on the same HDD (or maybe one on a new HDD if I get one)
Just another soul to burn.

Hate Microsoft as a company but for my needs they have the best OS available and it is the best for multimedia/gaming needs.

Linux is the most stable and everyone bashes Windows even people who are typing from it now (lol how stupid) but you can modify your windows system if you know what you are doing.

Microsoft is now the darkside..

linux is the fastest. most stable. and it is most configurable. i have no idea how you guys say windows or mac is better than it. mac is just BSD edited a little, and bsd is a lot like linux, but a bit more slow. also linux has permissions, so unless you run as "root". but thats a dumb idea to, you will never get any "viruses" or spyware or anything like that. and if you say "welllinux cant run outlooik express or any program that i use on windows" ...i say you are a dumb fucker. obviously it wont run because they are different os's. but 99% of the time for an application you can find something that does the same thing, maybe even better :D ...also more programs for linux are free or open source so there is much less amount of bugs.

Eh, I guess I'd have to say Windows.

I like it because: -
  • It's what most software is made to run on
  • It's fairly simplistic
  • It's not made by Apple
  • Most people use it, for all I know
  • It doesn't cause problems when it is networked with other Window's machines (bad point, but...)

I'm not so fond of :-
  • The need to defragment it often
  • The hardware requirements
  • The need-to-re-for-mat-it-so-blood-y-of-ten
  • Its price tag

Although I have never used Linux, myself. Macintosh was on our music teacher's computer though, and I was not fond of it.

I have to say Windows/Debian "Unstable". While Windows is made out to be the spawn of Satan, it's not that bad. Mostly because of the compatibility, and I rarely have problems with it aside from networking. On Linux, I find ATI drivers to be annoying to install, and ALSA doesn't really like my sound card sometimes. But GNOME is, a lot of the time, better than Explorer. Vista might be bloatware but I like the eyecandy because I have 1GB of RAM and wouldn't use it for games anyway.

EDIT: Who the fuck would use Solaris anyway? Ew...

My brother used it on his comuter (which is mine now) a few years ago.  He hated it. It crashed often and was slow. I've never used it myself so I don't know how to comment it.

The only reason Windows is used so much is because most of the populatioin doesn't know jack about computers.

Or else they would use Linux.

Oh ffs shut the hell up already, everyone has windows for a reason, im sure dells crappy ass comps that they sell could be a lot cheaper if they just distributed linux with em all or any other computer company. Bottem line Windows is the best for multimedia needs have fun playing a simple as a game like Soldat on Linux let alone any others. Linux is a good OS from what I have heard from few knowledgable users and those same users use it for different purposes.
