Questions (surprise!) for total modification
« on: March 15, 2007, 11:02:30 am »
Bonjour.

I'm been thinking up a total modification for Soldat, which conceptually incorporates new ingame and menu graphics (this is no problem) and a more or less total revamp of weapon handling (this on the other hand is!). I'm wondering whether it is possible to create a modification that you can activate and de-activate, quickly switching back and forth between the normal Soldat settings and this mod I intend to create.
Furthermore, is it possible to add a zoom to weapons other than the Barrett, and to modify the range of it?

Thanks in advance!

There's always the mod parameter: http://wiki.soldat.nl/Mod_parameter

Unfortunately... no, you can't. :(

Oh wow! Thanks for the moddirectory-tip! That pretty much solves any issues I had. Too bad about the zoom, however. I wanted to make two sniperrifles. :%...

You can modify the range of weapons with a weapon mod, but that will then only work if you're playing in single player or if the whole server uses your weapon mod

MM said something about releasing soldat as an open-source...do you think it will mean letting us mod the weapons so that it has scope?

Of course. You can do anything with open-source programs (all the code is right there!), as long as you know how to code it... but 90%+ don't know how :P

Oh trust me, I'll definately be learning some coding once Soldat becomes open source. There are just too many things hard-coded into the game to make a viable modification for it - doubleshot desert-eagles, the scope, etc. Not to mention the scope-reset hard-coded into the game!
