once i have a demo recorded either from fraps or soldat itself, how or what do i do with it to make it smaller, add music and effects?

you have a soldat demo or a "video" (AVI, MPEG, etc)?

i think its impossible to reduce the size of a soldat demo..

Windows comes with a video editer. Look for it in your Porgram Files "Movie Maker"

When you save a file with Movie maker it will convert it to wmv, don't know which takes up more space if thats why you want to convert.

Import video, place video in work area(drag and drop), save...

We all start somewhere, best thing to do is fiddle with stuff before you ask alot of questions. That way you get the manly feeling of doing things without instructions and experience to teach other people what you know.

I'd bet there are allot of Tutorials on Google which help you get small size and good quality when encoding the video

I'm rather Green on this so I don't know which are good and thus wont give U any links.

in the manual it gives a way to convert .sdm files to bitmap, and windows movie maker doesnt support .sdm... any help...? a 1.2 mb .sdm is turning into 23+ gigs of bitmaps... need helpppppp and fraps dont work on my pc

To my knowledge fraps and bmp is the only way to convert the demos.

You need to convert those bmp's to avi with another program. Google "bmp to avi".

You can export the demos using a video capture program, you can use either the free version of fraps (which includes annoying watermarks) : http://www.fraps.com/download.php
Or my personal favorite, taksi, an open source free video capture program : http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=104102

fraps is ok, but only 30sec intervals....and thanks flab, ill remember to make my title more clear
