what are your feelings on the m79, do you think everyone should be assasinated for clicking it? or do you think people are just angry at your total ponage!


i know that faries die way too much and the m79 needs a bit o tweaking... every time i start soldat this is a problem for me, it makes me want to just go play zombie or something.

I use M79 since I play Soldat [2003], and I don't care about whiners. They just don't know how to loose.

there comes a time in every young soldat's life when they get shot by an m79er at an extremely close range... time freezes as the new player's soldat's limbs fly all over and high pitch whinlike squeals sound loudly, nearly cracking the 15 inch white box some call a monitor.



we arent discussing ways to make the m79 balanced, just seeing what most people think about it, more of a general discussion thread really...

It has its ups and downs, but if you go into a server and see everyone using it, or a clan using it as a last hope in a match, then it gets annoying.

well, it pisses me off more than anything when you just spawn, and some camper on the hill shoots his M79 at you and kills you before you can think...Yes, its annoying, and it should be removed alltogether from the game

true though it does get annoying when theres too many using it especially since most of them are noobs. I have used the m79 ever since i started playing and its only a noob weapon if your new to the game or a camper.... or just stupid

M79 noob means you always use it and nothing else.

OMFG lol thats all i say when i get blown up by one of those. After I respawn i get them back with sniper bullet in the crotch.

the weapon is surely annoying.... And its odd, when a person (not camping) uses Barret they dont get called anything, but an m79 user (not camping) gets "WTF OMG NOOB~@!@!@!@".


Honestly, even though its a cheap and battle ruining weapon, it is rather strategic...

getting spawnkilled by an M79 is the most annoying thing ever!
And barret is NOT like the M79: 
It explodes causing damage more easily.
It can get into spots a barret usually couldn't.
It has much shorter reload time.
It doesn't get binked...at all?
It can even bounce a couple times such to easier hit a guy on the ground.
It can get many 'lucky shots' by easily get shot over a hill without seeing far.
It is easy to use at short distances.
It can boost you.
It can easily slow down enemies without killing them (when running away with flag).
It can be a 100% one hit kill weapon even if the enemy wears a vest.
It can easily steal kills if someone has low health without even exploding on the enemy.
It is easy to aim with.

well, the only thing that annoys me about it is that the majority of all soldat players have it as their favorite weapon and never use any other.

It is a very sad waste. Heres the story of a soldat noob:

He downloads soldat, installs it, starts a deathmatch in bunker with bots.
He finds the easiest weapon is the m79, gets lazy and never tries another.

Unfortunatly this happends around 10~ times a day.

90% of all soldateers are noobs who are to ignorant/lazy/stupid to try a new weapon
if you arent one of them do nothing to stirr up another fad like this

I don't see anything wrong with it.
It can be deadly in the right hands, but 8/10 times it's in a complete noob's hands/someone who just plain sucks, just like the other weapons.

Also, if they got rid of it there would only be the nades and LAW for explosions.

And a shooter game needs at least 3.

The M79 itself is okay. When I get killed in mid-air with an M79 from some guy below me, I'm not pissed. I treat it like getting killed by, say, a knife. Yeah, it's kinda cheap, but every game needs a newb weapon for people to learn on.
But what really pisses me off are the people who do close-range M79 shots. They treat it like a shotgun. How the crap do I counter a guy who's running at me, who is willing to kill themself in order to kill me? Well, now I know how people fighting against suicide bombers feel. (Yes, I know I should use a shotgun/'nades in those cases)

I agree with xtishereb. What's even worse are the m79 users who come up within a couple of inches from me and get a cheap 1-hit kill while surviving. That aggravates me.
