Questions about the new forum
« on: June 08, 2006, 01:04:08 am »
Feel free to leach off my topic if you have questions as well.

1) Nice logo I would almost suggest making it vector since it kind of has that look to it already. The small section below and above the gun worldnet compress well though.

2) "© 2001-2005, Lewis Media. All Rights Reserved." Who the?!?! SMF made the forum, what do these other people have to do with anything?

3) Is the design still open to minor tweaks? After all, I get paid to tell people how to make their website better. People usually listen when I have advice.

4)

5) Thanks for the alt+s I asked for last forum :)

Lewis Media, according to their website, made SMF. Their copyright's at the bottom of the simplemachines.org site too.

1) The logo was designed in Inkscape, which as you know, is a vector graphics program.

2) That copyright notice is required to be at the bottom of the site. Anyhow, Stalky, Ville and I are humble people. We have a note on the front page with credits for the theme.

3) This week we'll be observing how the new forums work out. I am stuck with my work internet connection, as the cable for my new apartment has not been set up yet.

After that? Well... The forum is a work in progress, and certainly not perfect. Any constructive comments are welcome. Just keep them simple, and we will probably have time to fix them. Although I doubt us poor folk will be able to compensate you for your advice :P

4) I had not taken the time to validate all the html, but you have to admit that three errors is not bad for hand writing the code.

I only use illustrator. It hasn't let me down yet :)

Just some CSS things that would make things easier to read at a glance. You can tell that I never take the time to read anything online.

I had 2 errors on the last page I did. It was strict dtd though. I don't think they are errors in transitional. One still exists. For now...

I am not saying that Illustrator is a bad program. I was actually trained to use Illustrator by my instructor, and I liked using it very much. Right now I am trying to use more GPL'd programs to prove that they can work just as well as commercial versions. Open source is a great thing :)

You're right about one thing; The css for this page could use a lot of clean up. Here are some examples of the css that I normally write:

Main CSS
Forum CSS

The code for these pages was taken from the SMF classic theme and then heavily modified. I did not have the time to change the css much, so it's going to look ugly with the clashing code styles.

Just tell me when and I'll gladly rewrite .
