PSP/3rd party console Soldat
« on: April 03, 2007, 12:59:08 am »
Attention: I am talking from a different standpoint here. I am not saying that MM needs to make Soldat PSP compatible. It'd be a waste of time for moment. I am saying that there is a small potential of being able to port and play Windows Soldat on the PSP. Read my posts and you'll see...

I would post this in the other thread about this but it was just recently locked, and sorry for reposting this.

Lol, for all you people that doubt that Soldat could be for the PSP might be wrong. Currently, it is possible to run Windows 98 onto your PSP but at the moment, it still lacks in a lot of areas. Also it depends whether or not Soldat would have compatibility issues with the PSP version of Windows 98.

So, in the long run there is potential for Soldat to run. I doubt it would run in the first place only for the fact that the PSP only has 32mb of RAM. Pretty low if you think about it. There is another 3rd party handheld out there that one-ups the PSP and could have the potential, but you can personally research that yourself ;).

I think that support for linux/mac is higher up on the list than psp. and like you said, 32 mb is puny.

True, never really thought about the mac and linux... Well, it isn't like MM would even have to change anything to make it compatible for the PSP, but...the version out there of Windows 98 for the PSP is really shakey and needs time to develop. Also, there is somehow a chance of weirding out your PSP in the process. But this was just a thought. It has a small potential in the near future for this.

You obviously underestimate the PSP. It has the capabilities to run 3D Playstation (the first one out) games. Have you ever played Megaman legends? It can run that fairly decent. It could also run FFVII. I believe getting the stuff for that is illegal though but it's been done. I wouldn't do it personally though, because for one, I don't even have a usb card reader thing...yeah...

Even then if the PSP fails, there is a very decent 3rd party completely open source system. And since it is open source (meaning all of the files that are a part of it can be reconfigured or something like that) it can do a lot of things. I'm sure someone out there has some sort of way to run Windows games therefore being able to run Soldat; yet again, maybe not. The system I believe has something like 128mb of RAM and a bunch of other good stuff. Can't remember the name of it though... And it's a handheld.

I really don't know what point I am trying to prove, but oh well. At least its somewhat interesting.

Soldat needs DirectX to run. Neither PSP nor NDS will ever support it.

Plus, soldat would suck on PSP due to the fact that it has only one joystick.

Fixed.

Linux before PSP, for God's sake.

I'd rather have a *nix version before a psp version.

Yes yes, but once again, you wouldn't even have to bother with making Soldat PSP compatible :-\. Read my posts prior and you'd understand.

The other thread got locked for a reason.  Search before you post and read the locked thread before creating another one

edit: and in response to the "no wait, what i'm saying is different":

Soldat would need to be 100% rewritten from scratch in order for this to happen.  That isn't going to happen.  Even if it did, a Linux/mac version would come first.
