Spectators in a Different Group?
« on: June 27, 2006, 02:25:25 pm »
I always get so annoyed from spectators that join the server and take up space.
So, why not add a different group?
Let me explain:

When you are setting the options of your game there would be one to have "Maximum Players", but then below that it should say "Maximum Spectators" to set. This way when someone joins as a spec they just take up space as a spectator, not as a player, or you can put 0 to block spectators completely.

I don't support it. I think it gives people a chance who want to view who/what's in the server before they join.

I support it mainly because it's annoying when people go to spectate when they are afk instead of just leaving the server

Yes add this.
Also, to make it fair include all those's opinions who say otherwise.

tk, if your considering joining, join and leave if you don't like it - that simple!
This idea would have some many more advantages over drawbacks@
Can't think of anything original to put here...

I'd have to disagree. If you want to stay in the same server so someone cant take your spot, going AFK on spec is not bad at all. you just are saving your spot in line. sorry everyone.

You can just join and press F1.

You have no rights to 'save a spot'. If you're not playing, let others play. During this AFK period, uneven teams will happen if the server is full.

I like the idea myself, it is always annoying when people become spectators just to hog that last player spot, and when they are told to play, they don't care about the team difference (in team games).

I don't see why not, personally. If you are bothered, stick my name on the list =D

Aye it's very annoying to have unbalanced teams because there is one person spectating. Having special slots for spectators sounds like a good idea!
