how do i get my map out to the public?

I GOT A REALLY COOOL map. but how will i get the servers to d/led them so i can play with other people? I'm confident that it will be as popluar as Poland and it took me 12 hrs to make! Although it was my first map. So it will have some glitches here in there but it wont affect gameplay. it is also loaded with secrets, it will take sometime to master unless your a cheater and look at the skeleton!! bUT how will other servers get it? can't it d/l it from me? why not is so? and how will i get to play with other players?

For free filehosting, I use FileAve.com. You'll need to make an acct. (most good websites need them), unlike crap Rapidshare, but it links directly to the file, also unlike crap Rapidshare. :)

Getting others' servers to use custom maps is a problem for all mappers; the best way is to simply host your own server, I guess, with your maps. Or you could wait for some server admins to stop by the mapping section and possibly put them on their own, but from what I can tell, only Leo does that for his realistic servers, and he doesn't swing by here very often at all...

If you are releasing this map to the forums (since you're linking to it), tell me and I will move this thread to the CTF section. You also will need an overview of the map (a screenshot of the whole playing field). You can host one at ImageShack.

YEH I KNOW ABOUT IMAGE SHACK oops had caps on , anyway but how do i get it to ms paint? one dude said to press something next to f12 but i pressed f11 on the original soldat map maker and nothing happened, on the other side of f12 is nothing. what else?

Ctrl+V for screenshots and F4 for makin' screens in Soldat.

If you want to make screen wo show your map on map maker you should press "print screen" button. This button is over the "Insert" button ("Insert button is over "Delete" button). Then you should press Ctrl+V in the "Paint".

there is no button on top of the insert button!! All it says is Dell there.

Press that, open up some image editing program (Paint?) and paste the clipboard contents.

Please also consider using the forum's attachment feature instead of some stupid site like rapidshare.  File hosting sites
1) sometimes require you to register to download files
2) make you wait so you consider paying them money
3) don't keep your files for very long
4) are often slow and unreliable.

The forums will be around far longer than your files are kept on a free hosting service.  Please use it for your maps and images unless you have somewhere better to host them.

they are pretty well-visited so chances are that its full. Meet me on #climbing-soldiers on quakenet ^^
