Translation file for 1.4 (please post corrections)
« on: April 07, 2007, 04:00:55 am »
Maybe I should have done this earlier but nevertheless here it is. I have decided to release this so you can translate Soldat before 1.4 is out and if you`re quick enough it will be put in the default Soldat 1.4 installation file for everybody to use.
Here is the file http://www.soldat.pl/downloads/default.zip.

Notes:
The file is saved in UNICODE format. That means you`ll have to use a decent text editor that supports saving in unicode and that doesn`t screw up line numbers (I use Visual Express 2005 or Crimson Editor). To be sure it is saved in unicode it should be about 30kb size or more.
You can copy/paste old translations where it is possible but there are some changes so please notice them (a diff/file comparison program will be useful).
The most important change is adding formatting ex. "Killed by %s", so it is possible to use correct grammar in your language when displaying "Killed by Jack".

On another note: the taunts.txt file will also be using UNICODE. So if you`ve got an editor for taunts be sure it works for version 1.4.

So if you`got the translation ready,
please post it here for everyone to see. Cause I don't want to get duplicate works, so nobody does unnecessary work.

BTW. The dragonflies was a joke, really.

So far I have the following working translations:

belarussian
brazilian portuguese
Chinese (traditional)
croatian
deutsch
finnish
french
italian
japanese
korean
lithuanian
magyar
nederlands
polski
swedish
turkish
spanish
catalan
russian
thai

I'll give a Swedish translation a shot. Probably won't use it myself though.

Too bad... :(

Master, do we have to translate it into Polish? Or, besides English version, our will be made by You?

I doubt you have to translate it to polish considering that's MM's main language

I may try to tanslate it to german, let's see what I get done.

€dit: Hey, what about making a l337 translation as a little extra?

€dit2: Wow, the german translation isn't even easy. So many phrases that are hard to translate without making them sound shitty.

MM, is there a way to check the translation's actual look in the game before the release?
You know, sometimes translations tend to have longer lines than the english version, which can be very ugly in the end (if not taken care of properly).
Bring back Soldat 1.3.1! New bullet trails DIE!

Yes yes, I wan to know this too!
I have put my translation into Soldat/Txt/Languages directory and changed the language with Config application. But in the game all of the text was gone and distorted :-X Or am I doing something wrong?

Unless you have 1.4... might be a bit hard to try it under 1.3.1.

Yes that's why I posted the translation file. There already are german translations so just update them to use these letters.
I've taken care of the polish translation, it has ogonki and all that :).

I have a question:
In the third line (Player left:), can I use %s too?

P.S. I'm doing a german translation too xD

edit:
Michal can there be an option to select language at the start of the installation?
Would be an easy thing if MM uses NSIS (NSIS = nullsofts uber installer system)
