You don't really want to squeeze text into a 16x16 unless you're rather crazy. At least not in the same way as you would in a 32x32 one.

I like vice's most, but would be hard to make it as 16x16 icon.
I would suggest everyone should also make 16x16 icons before voting which is the best.

I love Toumaz' and ElephantHunter's icons as well. I'm probably leaning towards EH's a bit, because I really like its style. :)

Damn, Toumaz killed my confidence. ElephantHunter's is rather nice, but in my opinion, the theme isn't too Soldat-ish. I'm not even sure if a Soldat-ish feel can be obtained through vector art.
