Mouse
« on: April 10, 2007, 05:33:30 am »
Not so long ago I have bought a new mouse (Trust GM-4200). It has two modes: 800dpi and 1600dpi. I started playing Soldat with higher dpi, because it's said to be better for shooter games. But I don't feel very good and comfortable with such high dpi. My accuracy decreased, but it was supposed to be increased!
So I just want to know if I'm doing right playing Soldat with 1600 dpi mouse. And what are your mouses?

I play with 30% sensitivity after trying it a while ago. I found that it improved my accuracy a lot. But, don't take it down to 30 straight away, try playing with 70, then 60, then 50... so on. After a while, you get used to it but not all people find that this mouse sensitivity improves their accuracy. Try it out anyway.

EDIT: I play with one of those cheap microsoft optical mice.

It's hard getting used to a new mouse. It took me about a week, try starting at about 50 sensitivity then play about with it moving it up or down 2 at a time. You should get a good feel for it soon enough.

i play with 40% sensitivity, it just suits my playing style. just play round with that in the options menu, its going to feel liek there is a fat guy sitting on your mouse for a while but trust me you get used to it.

I agree with dusty, Mostly mouse wont affect it, sensitivity wont affect it either, mostly it about skill... I use sensivity 120%. And i use wireless mouse which is likely big, and hard to move :l

OK, let's say I make sensitivity 50%. But what should I choose then: 1600 dpi or 800 dpi?

Ain't that up to personal preference? Poke around with different mouse sensitivities - both in Soldat and on your mouse - and you'll probably find one that you enjoy using sooner or later.

I thought that there are some specific sensitivity options to make playing and mouse controlling better and more accurate :-\

I've got this random wireless optical mouse from Logitech I bought because I don't like having my mouse's cable getting snagged on stuff and messing up my aim. You can play around with the mouse sensitivity to make it about equal to what you're used to, it's an option somewhere in the control panel.

I think I use about 80% sensitivity in Soldat. I usually only use about half my mouse pad or less. The faster you move your mouse, the farther it goes.

I have a 1600 dpi mouse like yours. At first I wasn't used to it, but I messed around with my sensitivity awhile and found that I aim best at around 18-20 sensitivity. Most people's preference differs...some people like a fast mouse, and some people like a slow mouse. Don't worry, you will find your sweet spot in sensitivity. ;)

Keyboard&mouse doesn't make a player.
But it sure as hell can break a player.

Seriously if you like to spaz out on your mouse then you will need to lower your sensitivity and if you have a sucky keyboard and the "s" key falls off every time you try to crouch you are going to have some problems.
