If you're on dial-up, there's nothign you can do to make it download faster.

I don't think you can play CS online very well over dial-up

We can't tell you whether or not your bill would go up, it depends how your parents pay for AOL.  If they pay a flat monthly rate, then it would not go up.  If they pay by the minute, it would

Either way dude, get broadband. I'm paying for cable that costs as much as dialup, and it's getting to be pretty common that broadband is cheap.

Yes there is, by getting a broadband. It won't be playable anyway with dial-up. Just get broadband, if you use internet alot it will be cheaper.

not here, you lucky bastard, cable is 50 (american) dollars a month.

*mumble* fucking comcast monopoly *mumble*

if you download it from a good website then it shouldnt be too long, but when i was on dialup i downloaded a game, it took seven days and it didnt work.

Even if we send you the install executable, you'd still have to download it painstakingly slow. Then, you'd need to register an account (which costs money, something you obviously lack) to play online. If you do raise five USD and purchase a used copy at some discreet shop at your local mall, you'd have the problem of playing with incredibly high ping. Dial-up isn't the only way to connect to the Internet, you know.

There is no install executable. Everything is internalised in Steam now. You have to create a (free) account and then purchase the game from Valve before downloading from their content servers. (You can download it in parts with steam instead of leaving your connection on.. but I don't recommend it with dial-up) And yes, you will have incredible pain playing on dial-up. Another thing, CS is flooded with thousands of experienced players and is not newbie friendly to any extent. It will be a trial by fire if you decide to try and play. Just a warning.

Yes,but if you dont play it you will never be good at it.Thats why i suggest playing games like call of duty in mutliplayer or halo before going to CS.

halo is nothing like CS ;P
actually, every FPS is different from the other. that's why the top game in Quake won't be the top gamer in CS for example.

Stop, getting broadband will not make your shit work, and shooting people in halo is different than shooting people in CoD2

Even if you bought the game at a store, the patching session is horrible itself...
Download Steam
Patch Steam
Patch CS to version 1.6 (and if im not mistaken the 1.6 patch is a good 110 MB I think so that alone would be a big thing to work around)
Play CS with little gratification, aka pings of about 400+.
My input, get broadband or stick to offline games.
