(Muted)
« on: April 16, 2007, 05:09:32 pm »
Recently I had been playing on a public server, Leo's INF to be exact and have been muted for my single time use of the taunt "How do you like them apples???" after I uttered what must have been the evilest of evil phrases the admin promptly muted me with the counter phrase "How do YOU like them apples???" and since then I have no ability whatsoever to communicate with the enemy or my team.

This has put me in some difficulty considering I can see the danger but not be able to warn allies about it and yet when I heard that leaving and rejoining the server unmutes me I was annoyed to find that it hadn't worked. Is there any way of unmuting that doesn't rely on the admin (who happened to be messing with everyone, killing them and booting them at random)? Help appreciated thanks, hope this is in the right forum. If not then it could probably turned into a discussion about annoying encounters with admins.

Admins make the rules. If you do not follow the rules and get punished for it, don't come crying to forums.

Leo's servers started to suck a long time ago when the rules kept getting changed with more and more rediculous rules. Specifically changing the weapon mod weekly and overall just making it a very bad experience.

Admin global mutes are done by IP address, because if you rejoin the game you aren't unmuted.

You can not undo a global server mute unless an admin types /ungmute or your IP address changes.

And FYI, admins can still see what you say when you are muted. Its funny seeing people start saying shit while muted then deny it after being unmuted.

I agree the LEO severs aren't as good as they use to be, I was playing on the INF one, just joined ran up to a guy and shot him in the head with a ruger, then Bam, It said I was kicked from control panel,(admin was in the sever at the time) So I went to a empty leo sever and called for admin, and asked why I was kicked, they said it was just a 20 minute temp ban, So I said okay, and just shrugged it off and I would wait, well, it's been 2 days later and I still am banned for no reason at all.

hehe I got kicked off of u13 tm cause I joined the team with the least amount of players, and hit f1, realized both people on the team were from SS, then promptly got kicked for "hacking" by one of them. I told them I would change team, quit, rejoined and found out that I was banned. Its over now though.

If you have a dynamic IP, then you can just turn off your modem for a couple minutes, and turn it back on, and you should be assigned a new IP, therefore, unmuting you. ;)

In my opinion, player should be automatically unmuted after some amount of time, e.g. 24 hours...

I never made bad experiences with Leo's servers and actually I find the admins are pretty nice. There's also no rule I'd call 'ridicolous'.

Maybe you can contact Leo on this forums and ask him why you got muted and stuff...

Yeah, Leo was also a nice guy in that way. Very down to earth.

Ey mate, I was thinking.. It's not a bad thing, hovering above your enemies when you completely slaughter them, nor is using taunts for that purpose. However, when you keep doing the same thing over and over, and when you totally spam the channel with that taunt it get's annoying, and it WILL get you muted.

If you fix this, try thinking twice about spamming, if that is indeed what you've done, mate.
I fucking miss all you cunts!

I knew a guy named HUSTLE BUSTLE INTHACITY :( He kept saying "Gooooooooooooooooood ladddddddddddddd" over and over again even when 3/4th of the players in the server were saying "STFU". Annoying as hell. >:( We got him G-muted :D

In LRS mute lasts quite a while, no matter if you reconnect when got muted. Shouldn't be too big deal if you can't inform your buddies in-game for a while, it should be having fun, not playing seriously like in cw's.

It's just my opinion, of course it shucks if you can't talk in-game, especially if you're a talkative person.

Yup, Leo is a very nice guy. I once got banned by a bugged Server vote, he unbanned me :D

And well, I play on LRS for fun, but I use that "professional" taunt system too, because teamwork brings the fun in.

Admins make the rules. If you do not follow the rules and get punished for it, don't come crying to forums.
Leo's rules (which you can call up at any time) do not include the use of the taunt "How do you like them apples???" perhaps the admin in charge at the time had some sort of rule like that but I was otherwise unaware of it not being posted and all. I'm not crying either, is there anyway of speaking out about something without being told your a whiner? As I have mentioned before, it was a one time use of that taunt, sounds unbelievable? I was shocked too, I even started asking to be un-muted (please with cherries on top) unaware if the admin could hear what I was asking or not.
Thanks to everyone who gave constructive replies :)
Plus is it just Leo thats an admin or is someone in those servers abusing their powers perhaps?

Well the admins only a puny earthling. He probably just got annoyed after the taunt got stuck in his head like a broken tape recorder. He shoulda told you he was going to ban you though.
