Which game has the best singleplayer campaign?
« on: June 28, 2006, 04:40:02 pm »
What game has best singleplayer campaign?

How many hours did you spend playing it, and what was your most memorable part in the campaign? Did the game have a good story?

My picks would probably be Half-life 2, just cus it's Half-life 2, Halo and Halo 2, for the grunt massacres, and Homeworld, because of the atmosphere.

The most fun I've ever had on a singleplayer campaign was on jedi knight 2.  Took me well over a month to beat it on the highest difficulty level.  And I still go back and do it over now and then.

Hmm, the only real campaigns I've ever played were Halo, Metal Arms, Dynasty Warriors and those old SNES RPGs.

I can't say which one was the best because I've forgotten what most of them were like ::)

definitely Operation Flashpoint.
took a year to beat original campaign (I was stuck on last mission :p)
Also the expansion set Resistance was great, took ~2 months.
The storyline was ok, but the best part is the gameplay. It's very immersive with nice atmosphere and the combat is intense, also you have to use your brain often, unlike in generic FPSs. Another thing is the amount of freedom in the game, basically you can go anywhere in a 100km^2 island and do anything to complete the mission.

The baldurs gate saga...if you want to play through it to the fullest, it will take like, two hundred hours?
Most memorable...Well...killing that old firkie was nice...bunch of level...10s or 11s going up against a red dragon, now that was pretty tough, and enjoyable. But there's many many good fights...Demogorgon sure is a tough cookie too, you think you're badass and all with all your high level abilities and he poons you. But he cheats. I guess he has to if he wants to have a chance...

Every Hitman installment. Nothing beats it, best single player game ever.
Oh, elderscrolls 3 and 4 are nice, but I still enjoy hitman more.

Steel Panthers: World at War. There are multiple campaigns, like a WW2 campaign etc. Some individual scenarios can take up to four hours. It's great.

If I wasn't ticked because the last level wouldn't load on it, I'd say Halo 2. I like the last level of Halo though, the one where you have to race to the finish. Favourite 3D level right there!

Hmm. I probably spent quite a few hours on both of those through co-operative, and the last levels on both keep me coming back.

But my overall favourite would have to be either Fable or Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Both of these because there isn't a fixed path, and the Good-Evil type of play has always hooked me. The former took me 8 hours for both pathways. The latter about 12 - 16 hours for both paths.

OBLIVION SUCKS!!!!

I just recently played HL2 - episode 1. I forgot just how realistically the characters were animated and portrayed. Even that bloody robotic dog ... I remember from HL2 genuinely feeling bad because I launched his ball over the cliff.
MM; seriously Chakra, stop the fisting
