Firefox doesn't appear to be saving my cache..

Okay, I'm having this problem. I haven't installed anything recently that could cause this to happen, either:
Every time I exit Firefox, my cache doesn't appear to be saved. It takes a long time for images and etc. to be rendered on a website once again even though I've visited the page before many times. Yahoo is my home page, and the images all have to be rendered again, the Metanet Forums is my most used bookmark, and all the fancy skin work needs to be rendered again whenever I go there, etc. This is really annoying. I've checked under my settings, and my private data isn't set to be cleared every time I close Firefox, which is what's bugging me. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Judging by your post and intelegence I am going to assume that this is in fact caused by firefox and not some firewall BS or a shitty ISP.
Do you have a low number for the ammount of disk space? You might have run over that and firefox can't save any more, just to be sure, clear your cache and boost the number, then refresh (or go to homepage), exit and come back in see if that does anything.

I set the amount of space to be used for cache at 120 MB, and it was at around 78 something. I'll clear the cache now and see if it works more effectively.
EDIT: No, this doesn't affect it. After clearing the cache, increasing the amount of cache space, exiting, coming back to the home page, and exiting/coming back in again, the page still loads relatively slow, and this applies to all pages I've seen before.
Even though my internet is cheap Verizon DSL, in the past, all previously visited pages have been rendered faster then pages that I haven't visited before, but it started doing this last night. Could it be Tab Mix Plus's Session Restore feature? I installed it 2 weeks ago but it didn't change anything then, so why is it doing this now?
EDIT v1.28597: Okay, I do remember ****ing around with some Fasterfox settings 2 nights ago, but that doesn't seem to have affected anything, either. I set them back to their original settings, but that doesn't help. Gah...
Also, this may be unrelated, but Tab Mix Plus doesn't like being uninstalled. I went to the add-ons menu, uninstalled it, but when I came back to the add-ons window, it was still there.
What has happened... ;_;

(type type type type)
Ahh,
LINK!
While the article is for making it faster, you might be able to look through that to see if you find anything related to cache.
If all else fails, then you will have no choice but to become a linux fanboys and live out your days running wine.

in firefox:
go to the address "about:config"
in the filter/search bar, type "cache"
look for browser.cache.disk.enable and make sure it is "true"
optionally, also look for browser.cache.memory.enable and make that "true" though if you notice firefox using a significant amount of RAM, you can disable this.

Aquarius: I get pop-ups in IE that come up while I'm doing something not related to the internet and I don't even use IE. It's terrible, seriously now.
Flab: Both of those are already set to true... what else could be causing this?
Maybe I should try an uninstall/reinstall? I don't know what that will accomplish, though... (I don't have much stuff to backup, only a few bookmarks and a few themes)
And this is about my computer, in general, not Firefox: It seems to be behaving not quite as fast as it did when I first got it a year ago. Every once in a while the windows or applications I'm using will lag behind my clicks; it's more noticeable when I try to open something like Windows Messenger or the Task Manager. I was considering a reformat, but I've never done one before, and that seems really drastic, because I'm sure a little extra RAM could help this out. I currently have 512 Mb, (Actually, only 448 because I have a crappy integrated Graphics card) and I have a 256 MB RAM stick laying around here, but I don't know if it's made for Compaq and actually installing it is foreign to me.
Ignore the striked text.
::EDIT::
Aha! I think I found out the problem. Someone verify this:
When I go to History on the Menu at the top of Firefox, the recently visited pages are not shown, but they are being saved in the History folder. Therefore, Firefox thinks I haven't visited X page recently when I actually have. How do I correct this?
