I don't think they're bad. I do think that there should be an option in preferences to disable them though, just to add more flexibility for those who don't want them.

People can never read me, I don't know how I made it this far without smileys to point out my sarcasm to people.

I wouldn't mind seeing some 'new' smilies at some point. One's more Soldat orientated.

Oh if only we had some talented artists...

While I support your desire for smileys, they're just not for me, and have been disabled so I can make better ones, like these:
O__O

)ooo www ooo)

:D

And alike. yay for more post options!

1) IE7 Should
2) There is a trick to get it to work. But it involves several more lines of code.

Theres these amazing smileys from another soldat community forum, there is a pirate one, and a present one,

EDIT: These are from the divine supremacy (an r/s hub) forums. And I do not take any credit for them.

I do take credit for this one --->

I don't like like these smileys... They ruin the mood somehow. Too plain and... YELLOW.
I voted Yes to get rid of these ugly smileys. On the "old" Soldat Forums we didn't have smileys and it was perfect that way.
*rants rants*

Plus the "disable smileys" is not available in the quick reply box. Bleah.

We used to. They got lost when Styx installed speedball. In fact, if you go far enough back into the archives, you can sometimes see [:)] and stuff in posts.
