Torrents are really really slow... If your downloading a rarely seeded, really large file... Come on! in the first ten minutes alone, there will be like 300 seeders! It wont be that slow, maybe 5-10 KB/s slower than normal... but you'll still get it like 10 minutes earlier. Just do it! 10 minutes.. WOO!!! that's more time than i can get un-interupted anyway!!!

I've never used a torrent, or know what it is. All I want is just a direct download. Don't make it too confusing please.
wow same as me, but I'll try to understand if it's better or not :p

that is a common misconception, and was only partially true back when torrents were rarely used

1) It saves Michal money
2) It saves me and everyone else who hosts a mirror money
3) by downloading it with the torrent, you'd be helping out everyone else downloading it via the torrent
4) torrents motivate internet service providers to improve the quality of their network, especially when it is used for legal purposes like this
5) downloading it via torrent will be much faster than using a direct download link.  Since MM has announced the release time, the direct download mirrors are going to be really, really busy as soon as the direct downloads are up.  With torrents, everyone downloads faster if there are more people downloading and seeding.

if i was MM i wouldn't provide any direct link at all for the first week, maybe only for registered users (dont know how :P), because the game is FREE, and it's a great game so if torrents help to make it popular, that's it, TORRENTS IS THE WAY! soldat deserves to be very famous. YEAHH.
So the answer is yes.

Sure, I'll use the torrent if it helps Flab, MM, and the rest of the Soldat community. :)

C'mon, 30 minutes earlier? Doesn't sound like a very attractive reason to use the torrent instead of waiting a short 30 minutes for the direct download link which is probably gonna be faster than the torrent.

i would suggest like 6 hours difference - but then again I didnt' think about it as thoroughly as MM did nor am I much experienced in advertising or w.e...
They should make simple integrated torrent manager into your webbrowser - that way more people would use it...
Can't think of anything original to put here...

I totally understand the idea of the torrent thing, but I am just saying if you want to give some sort of a head start for people to download soldat thru torrents, 30 minutes just isnt enough IMO.

I don't really see the problem. It will be 20, 30 megs tops. A torrent that small would take about 10 minutes with just 2 seeders, let alone the 300 that will ensue during it's release.

The good thing about torrents, they go faster the more people are downloading.

For someone using dsl, like I am, it will probably take less than 2 minutes.

All I am saying is is that I think 30 minutes isn't catchy enough, that's all.

i personally have real issues with download speeds on bittorrent. i have tryed port forwarding and many other things to try and get my download speeds up, but no matter how many thousands of seeds there are, i can rarely get over 5kB/s. When i download by direct link, its around 300kB/s. I am happy to download using torrent if it was the only way, but if direct link was there, there would have to be a big insentive to download with torrent.

ps. I like to download quite a few movies with torrent, and i have got about 15gbs, all downloaded with 5kB/s. Sometimes takes me 10 days with torrent left on to download a file XD
