30 seconds or 29 seconds with extra hassle? I don't even have any torrent programs.

Google Bitlord.  It's as easy as it gets, just click on the link and the program recognizes the torrent automatically.  No extra hassle, and you can even select what parts of a download you want to actually download.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

I've tried uTorrent, but, I think, BitComet is the best torrent software.

Utorrent is the best, definately.
I have tried several different clients, and Utorrent was the best, no doubt.

I would, but only because of the initial traffic loaded on a mirror by the sudden release. Normally I'll use a mirror every time.

yeah, thats the point I made in one of my posts in the thread, but I don't think people read it

It depends on how big the files going to be wether I would or not. I'd rather not because in a winRAR nerd xD, but I will if I have to.

the files will be about the same size as they are now... but I'm talking about a torrent just for the release so that all of the servers hosting soldat downloads don't get hammered

I would, that's for sure.

Yes. I definitely would. Please start a torrent when it is released.

(I always download large files like freeware FPS's and linux distro's via torrents. I would download Soldat too.)

Bittorent is good for distributing large files, like video, CD/DVD images... Downloading tiny 10 mb files with bittorent is total masochism  :o
However it would be good idea to inlude into torrent dedicated server with common scripts, various soldat utils, some additional maps and mods. Using torrent instead of search over numerous web pages and forums to download all that stuff would make since. Luckily BitTorrent allows users do download only selected files from single torrent. So people who need only soldat installer could save traffic.

you're all missing the point.  I'm only talking about using the torrent for the initial release.  There are going to be enough people downloading Soldat within a 3-day period that any server hosting the file is going to be very unhappy.  Even 20% of people using a torrent instead of the direct download would help.

I only started using torrents recently. I find it easier than a download link now.

I've got everything set up to be able to supply a torrent when 1.4 is out.  If you can stand waiting a few extra seconds to get 1.4, please consider using the torrent, it will save a lot of money and time for many people hosting 1.4.

The purpose of this thread was to satisfy my curiosity about who would use it and to make people aware that they could use a torrent to get 1.4.

Thanks for the replies ;)
