Critical decision for 1.4
« on: April 24, 2007, 01:34:47 pm »
This is a for a critical decision that needs to be made for 1.4.  Listen to the attached wav file and vote on whether he says "slack-jawed" or "slap-jawed"

Outside research on the matter is allowed, though the focus is on what is said in the clip.  Listen and vote ASAP so that we can continue work on other less-important things in 1.4.

definatly slack jawed. listen closely to the way the tone sharpens when he say it if it was slap it would been more rounded of.

edit: also this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093773/quotes
dont know if IMDB is a credible source but it shares my view on the situation  [retard]

I understand the seriousness of this matter and can only hope that I have been of some help.

Slack-jawed makes sense. Slap-jawed... very surreal to be true.. Oh.. before posting.. try to google. It's a widely used phrase from the film.

See the first definition. I found this just as the above post was being written :(

But then, if you look at his mouth during the speech, it doesn't close at the end of the word. If you say 'slap', the p sound is formed by the closing of the mouth, while the k has the mouth open wide. Try it yourself.

Definitely slack-jawed.

In 1.4, we now get to hear pre-recorded sounds made by players!
Kinda like in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
But that's my guess.

Well, it's definitely slack-jawed, but that's no new news eh. :)

I don't think this is part of the critical decision, probably just a mask for it. Anyone could look this up on the internet if it was so important, so I'm pretty sure there's an underlying question with corresponding answers.
Anyway, if anyone finds it out: don't post it ;).

And why is this so important for 1.4 that you can call it 'critical'?

Considering the actual script for the movie says slack-jawed, and the subtitles of the DVD say slack-jawed, I have to lean towards that.
