Everyone complains non stop about the m79.  It's not over powered, it barely has any range at all.  Its made for small maps were everyone is close together, and it excels here.  In the same way the Ak or Barret excel on larger maps.  Its a one hit killer and so the way to beat it is to dodge the initial shell and give them hell when they miss and try to reload.  If you can't dodge them, then maybe you should just accept that the other player is better than you.  Or try using a diffrent weapon.

It actually pretty much has full screen range, though that's dependant on having enough clearance to arc the shot to travel or having ground to ricochet off of for added distance. Even at it's normal range, it's plenty reach to deal with most enemies before they can keep the distance needed to dispatch you before you get the M79 shot off.

ok m79's a fun wep for a few kills. But i hate it when newbs just keep constantly killing you again and again in the servers close range. Since most maps in CTF have underground tunnels, you cant DO ANYTHING about it! The only way to match m79 in the tunnels is to either have great nade aim or a m79 also.

M79 is perfect right now. No one has 100% accuracy.  Dodge and spray.  And Spas really is effective against m79 in smaller maps.

What they need to do is fix the damn bugs.. like hits not registering.

That's more of a lag issue than a problem with the actual game.

I used to use m79 in version 1.2.1, now it's gay but anyways...


I agree with shadow9.  They always just run throught the tunnels at full tilt, and blow you up, close range.  And like the original poster ( I forgot name, sorry,lol) at range, the m79 is no big deal, just stay away from them.  But sometimes, it's hard. 

In version 1.3.2 or whatever, they should make the m79 have more recoil damage.  That should provide enough punishment to make the abuse stop.  (80% of my m79 deaths are from point-blank shots).

Why do people complain about the M79? i am no user of it, but you don't see me complaining when i take arms to a pair of deagle's against an army of the explosions. it is a perfectly balenced weapon that in packs can kill, but it easy to counter in many ways. their one hit thrills may be annoying, but like i siad, the 'thrill' is lost when it misses...which is very easy to do.

every weapon has their ups and downs, i don't see why your all complaining.

the next thing you know, you'll be complaining becuase god killed us all and you want to nerf him!

Weapons like M79 or Barret are not the problem. But if almost everyone just uses those weapons, they suck like hell. Imagine getting blown away by 3 M79 nades or shot down by some Barretts firing at the same time. Ouch.

You set your trash on Magical Gumdrop Lane, don't you? :P Point blank M79s and grenades should selfkill, but the majority of the times the enemy just runs right through the blast unscathed while your corpse falls to the ground. This and having a shot sail overhead and still kill despite dodging it are the most annoying.

It would appear to me that the two sides in this argument are, for the most part, not on the same wavelength...

However, Tectron's hit the nail on the head--though I wouldn't consider the barret to be anything near as bad as it once was.

Anyway: the thing about the M79 isn't that one guy with it can destroy you effortlessly all the time, because that isn't true.  The problem is that too many people are using it, and it causes the game to become monotonous.  It's not that you can't dodge an incoming M79 shell, but that you can't constantly dodge multiple ones at once; the same applied to the barret, and some would argue that it currently applies to the automatics as a group.  You end up with a cycle of "spawn, fire a shot or two, die, repeat," where each repetition lasts only a matter of seconds; it's something I like to call the "Instakiller Loop."  The way you kill it is to get people to experiment with all the weapons, instead of stagnating on the one that looks the most convenient on paper.

I don't know about you guys, but I think the M79 is absolutely terrible in tunnels.

I will say this, though: The quality of M79 users has definitely gone down since I last played on a regular basis. I remember how I used to be all scared of someone with an M79, because a fair number of people would pull off mid-air kills, and all kinds of crazy trick shots. Now, it's duck, roll, and empty a clip.

i think the reload for m79 should be increased by 7-12% and the self-damage increased 25%.

stay on the line oval shaped trajectory circle. spray them to get them binkin while your outside of it. once they shoot rush them, but you have to kill them quick otherwise they will get you easily. for m79 campers, simply bink them and they have no chance. practice your movement and make sure you stay on the ground so you can backflip/run to dodge if they try to rush you or kamizaze.

to tectron, this happens also if you are in a are with 3 auto users, you have no chance unless they suck. but that is the way it should be. all weapons have there pros and cons.

spray autos(mp5, minigun, aug) are good for short-medium killing of enemies, or injuring large amounts of enemies which one or 2 can be taken out with nade

handguns(deagles, ruger, socom)good for medium to long range enemies. they only uselful if clip is targetted at one-two enemies.

close range(knife, nades, chainsaw)useful when very close to enemy, or group of enemy.

long range auto(ak, minimi)good for enemies long distance away, or for staying out of another guns range and shooting form far back

odd trajectory(m79, spas)good for short-medium range. 1-2 shot kill

long range single shot(barret, law)good for medium-very long. good in straight tunnels and easy to take out enemies before you are in there range.


as you can see all weapons have other weapons have strengths. none have weaknesses in my opinion, just differennt times to use differnt weapons. when you are very good, the range no longer effects you, so by dodging and correct shot placement, any weapon can combat any other weapon. its just easier to use ones designed for what you want.

I definitely agree that the m79 reload time should be extended just slightly. My personal reason is that it's simply amazing how often I'll dodge an m79 shot from someone 2/3-full screen away, then start shooting, and kill him/her just as he/she gets off his/her second shot, and we both die... maybe that's not a fair reason in itself, but I think it would be better anyway.

heh, i am hopeless at aiming the m79 but even though it may be annoying at times, no game is complete without a nade launcher.

I think that the grenade launcher should run off the current nades in your nade box, to prevent spamming.

Well if players are so "Skillfull" with they're auto guns then why cant they jump and dodge the M79? thats more simple than aiming a Ak-74 isnt it?

Well M79 isnt nooby any "Noob" would suck with one i sure as hell did when i started soldat, the m79 is so short range and so easy to get away from and if it comes down to it and your stuck in a tunnel with a M79'er just get as hella close to him as you can and take him with you (to death that is)

Im getting sick of these little girls complaining about 1 hit kill guns, its very annoying.
