Turn on video compat. in your Config.exe (startup menu or soldat folder) if that's your case :)

Tried ticking video compat, tried force software, tried both at the same time.. when I click force software it doesn't come up with the error, but when i start the game or intro it comes up as just a blank black screen.

video compat = error remains
force software = no error, blank picture
both = no error, no picture.

FYI: I use a Riva TNT2, xpsp2

I can join games, but I get "Access violation" errors now.  I can't even play with bots.  (1.4, lol)


EDIT:  This is what I get when I join a game or create my own with bots.

"Access violation at address 0051B7C5 in module 'Soldat.exe'.  Read of address FFFFFFFF."

Okay, I found that the only way to correct this problem was to play with compat on and ONLY using 640x480, but now can't get lobby

The lobby is a different problem afaik.

I have soldat 1.2.1 like on the desktop as a zipped folder and I have 1.4

It didn't load properly that's why it says 1.2.1.
If you would post your video card and system it would help.

Ok, I got an error with the 00000 as the address...

Here was my fix:

1. Take your s-reg.key file and move it somewhere (ex: desktop)

2. Start -> Run -> Regedit -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER (i think thats it) Software -> Soldat -> Delete the item labeled "Key" (DONT DELETE THE ONE THAT SAYS DEFAULT)

3. Save all your mods/interfaces/taunts/font/anything else you want to keep to your desktop that you dont want to loose(copy/paste)

4. Uninstall Soldat and all its components.

5. Reinstall the full 1.4 version

6. Place the s-reg.key back into your soldat folder

7. Double click the s-reg.key

And then your soldat should work (or atleast get rid of the access violation 0000000)

Hope this helps

EDIT: for the directx problems my only suggestion is downloading the latest version of it at their site.

i did that same thing and when i try to pplay with bots

it still says the violation
any other suggestions?
