Soldat Screenshot Converter for 1.4.
« on: April 29, 2007, 01:43:39 am »
Since starting with 1.4 Soldat uses timestamped screenshots, I've made a new converter app.

DOWNLOAD

The screen is self explationary. It converts all BMPs in the folder to PNGs, and deletes old BMPs. In case there are conflicting filenames, it'll figure out the correct position to continue naming the new files from, so it will never overwrite your files, which might be a problem with many batch converters.

This requires you to have .NET 2.0. Most people should already have this (if you use Vista you don't need to download it at all), but if you don't, you can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

And please, I don't want any spam about how .NET sucks and nobody should use it etc. If you don't like .NET you don't have to download this app, that simple.

I might make a more versatile converter later, with option to convert into JPEG as well, but that has to wait for a while, until I'll code some sort of .NET library to interact with libjpeg in C#.

no, it ANALYZES the screencap folder.
Or, it TAKES an analysis.

I'm pretty sure you can do that easily with GDI+

Yes, you can, but the JPEG encoding for .NET sucks, it makes very bad quality images, even on lower compression rates.
