1.4 is the worst version ever. Not that I could whine, because I can't make it to work, no matter what I do. I've tried everything.

But judging from what most people say, 1.4 is a real piece of crap. Nothing works, crapload of new bugs, crashes all the time, worse balance (well, it's always a debate, and I really can't say anything), shitty cheat prevention and a great deal of people can't even play it. You get the idea.

My question is, how can Michal release this kind of crap? Maybe it's just a joke, eventually he'll release the real thing and every will be happy in harmony, peace and stuff. Or maybe not. But I mean, COME ON, it was hyped for what, one and half years, and we all patiently waited for it. And when it comes out, it's a goddamned horribly abominated piece of monkey shit. Why, why!

heh only problems is the mega font, good aspect is that dropped guns hold their ammo, im super pleased with that.

I don't mind teh bullets, i mean they are moddable anyways.

except the bugs some of you have, im slowly get using to new things, bullets etc... After turned off kills console its not so bad, but still colors of chatzone should be not so similar. also few bugs like spawning without second weapon happens. 1.4 need more work, and we (players) should stop whining, and say clever what's fucked up, and whats good.

If you're in windowed mode, make sure Soldat's color resolution is the same as your desktop's, otherwise it won't run. That tripped me up for a few minutes.

I'm able to join and play some of my favorite servers (U13 INF, I guess Fracs isn't updated yet ), even though the lobby is kinda messed up right now (needs another). Just wait a day or two, and see if the internet bugs are ironed out.

Well, IMO 1.4 sucks. Why?
- Barret bullets doesn't fly where I want to... I really dont know why. I see it when i was playing ctf and DM (5 players). when i was playing a little DM it was ok.
- weapon balance is not good - smg weapons are too good i believe
- lobby server - but it's known problem
- bullets and 'nades marks are really stupid. they should be pink and it'd be 100% gay
- 'nades suck - sometimes one grenade kills, and sometimes TWO grenades don't! and one time i hit a player by m79 and he didnt die, lol XD

Map Ctf_Division is cool though.

Alright, before we go for each other's throats please remember that, even though there was (probably) significant testing before 1.4 was released, it was tried on a grand total of five or six computers. So you can't expect all the compatibility issues to be worked out.

And another thing, all this crap about being 'the worst version' is what people get on each new release of a game. Planetside, apparently a patch sometime three years ago made it 'd4 w0rst ev4r j00 n00bs'. Counter Strike, although I can't be bothered with the specifics, had a massive bunch of people complaining that the upgraded version (Source) was total crap. So, for now, get used to the game. Then in a couple days, after you cool off, give us the real opinions, not clouded by all this paranoia of how your fav game has changed. Got it ?

I'll continue to try and make the game work, something that the player shouldn't be forced to do. How many players will simply uninstall the game after it doesn't work? I agree with that last point, had the same problem. Remember to set res to 6xx 400 (err, the lowest one), and turn on video compatibility.

I was pretty dissapointed myself, i find the bullets...strange...wonder who came up with that. The lobby doesnt work well....atleast for me....sometimes it loads...sometimes it doesnt.....and the game also occasionally crashes when i try to join a game. The chat text is so small its impossible to read ( i run the game in window mode). I decided to stick with 1.3.1 as long as there are players.

Besides upon installation and first time playing it, I recieved the video compatibility error, this is probably one of the best versions, besides 1.2.1.

Heres an Idea. Go look at your setup file from 1.3.1 and make it match the setup file for 1.4. Problem solved, instead of whining here on the forums, over a great game that one man spent a life tiem creating, try figuring out yoru problems. Ask for help. Give specfic details on what is going on. Look at the known bugs and issues, and possible fixes.

Chill out. Its only a game. Dont like it? Dont play.

When I couldn't get the game to work, I decided to go to my friend's way better computer to play it. It worked, and I started the game. A big let down. Eveything what was told to me was true.

The text looked like somebody turned the monitor horizontally, took a diarrhea dump and vomited on it. When I made my first shot, I thought I was shooting balls of plasma instead of bullets.
Then the game crashed, so I decided to try an internet game. The first time I was kicked for possible cheating before I even selected my weapon.

The second time I could play, everybody complained about 1.4 being the worst version ever and talked about switching back to 1.3.1. After I left, I couldn't request new servers and I had enough.

What amazed me the most was that there was nothing new that I could notice.

in soldat u can change almost everything (bullets, fonts, gosteks, weaps) so if u dont like the default .. mod it urself .. or get horny by whining on forums  (i guess u choose second option)

Soldat 1.4 isn't necessarily soldat 1.4.1, if you know what I mean and I think you do. Once the patch is released, it's automatically renamed 1.4.1 and that's (hopefully) the last version/update if they fixed all the bugs. But at least the bots are as entertaining as ever. The source code will prolly be realeased a few years later on, so you can add stuff from the Game Improvements and Suggestions forums.
