UNICODE characteres

My Soldat 1.4v isn't accepting UNICODE characteres (^ ~ ` á ê õ, etc.)
I use WINXP, how can I fix it?

Turn off Compatibility Mode, as one of the things it does is impede your ability to use UNICODE characters.

Where is this option?

EDIT: Ok, I turned it off but when I do this my Soldat doesn't runs. :/
