Borders in Window Mode
« on: April 13, 2007, 02:17:03 am »
Soldat needs a normal window border while in windowed mode. Here is my reasoning:

  • Other games don't act this way
  • The box on the screen is hard for new users to get used to
  • As it is, I find it hard to tell whether the Soldat window is focused

Another thing that would be easily done with resizer ;\ I support this idea anyway.

The resizer program is useful, but a large part of the reason I brought this up was for usability purposes. Installing third party applications to fix an issue with Soldat doesn't improve usability in the least.

Thanks for the support though :)

As long as there is an INI option for it then its good. I prefer windowed with no border, but thats probably because ive been playing in windowed mode since day 1.

o0
I only started playing windowed when I realised it was faster and stuff. And then only with the resizer app. that got banned here (No I don't cheat with it).

I support because when I re-focus onto the window it gets one anyway. The only problem is that because it didn't have it to begin with it messes some stuff up to fit everything including the borders into the same space.

Good idea E.H.

Windowed mode is enabled via the configuration program that comes with Soldat. It's the first page, on the Graphics tab. Just uncheck the "Fullscreen" option.

Full support!
In windowed mode soldat should have normal window with border. Otherways windowed mode is kinda usless. You can't see other windows when playing...

I wouldn't like borders much. I'm very used to the way it is now. It's not a big deal to tell if the game is focused or not.

And VirtualTT, what do you mean you can't see other windows when playing? I use windowed mode, and I see everything on the back of the game.

Hmm, ah maybe you mean to be able to move the soldat window duh

I don't like the idea of having a standardized Windows border (with the Minimize, Restore, and Close buttons in the top-right), but I agree that some sort of border around the game window should have different colors (active - black, inactive - gray? Something like that).

I mean normal window... with sizable border and Minimize, Restore, and Close buttons...
I'm really missing times of Soldat 1.3.1 and my STC resizer... My favorite layout was  soldat in top-Left corner, video player at the top right corner and IRC chat at the bottom...
