for an added song to work in Soldat, does it HAVE to be in mp3 format?

I dont think so but I always run media player in the background (I hope that is allowed :D)

that's okay unless you do online multiplayer games with dialup, then it lags the server and raises your ping  :P

The mp3 song player sucks, it skips most the songs in the list.

...Unless thats been fixed?

Eh, I think that really depends on your .mp3. I've had it skip through a bunch of songs in one playlist, but entirely play several other playlists. I believe if you re-encode the .mp3 files with LAME they should play fine, the songs I've mentioned which played fine were ripped from some of my CDs with LAME.
