Lol, I said the default was 32 because when I use DOS to ping it's a 32 byte packet.
Thanks anyways.

This sounds somewhat similar to a problem I've been having. On some servers, I get ping kicked the moment I join. On others, I can play fine. My ping remains low, and nothing about my Internet settings have changed, nor am I downloading anything or having some SpyWare/Adware/other PC leach off my connection. The weird thing is I can play U13's big CTF server okay, but the normal one will ping kick me.   ???

The problem we are having is different. I'm not ping kicked, I'm disconnected after 1 minute in doesn't matter which server.

I'm having this issue.
Allow me to give you a wonderful tale of what has happened to me relating to this problem.

I had a Dell, with pretty ehhh hardware in terms of performance.  As you all know you don't need much to kick butt in Soldat, so I played it extensively for years.

Then one day, out of the blue, it stopped showing lobby.  Nothing would let me view lobby via the program, I had to use external lobby thingies.
Then when I would connect to a match I'd get booted after a minute or so.

With this new PC(Yes, a brand new computer, awesome hardware) I can actually see the lobby again! YES!

I rushed on into the game and...got booted after a minute.
I have 0 viruses, 0 trojans, 0 spyware.  I'm still using the exact same connection hardware I used to use when I would play it extensively, it still connects me at the same rate to the internet.

If you can figure out what's wrong with it more power to you.  I didn't start having problems, though, until I became incapable of viewing the lobby.  Most likely if there is a bug it lies somewhere in that vicinity.

Your ISP may have changed filters on their end to drop packets that match certain criteria. This is what happened to Clash; he used to be able to play fine, but then his ISP started to drop packets that were only 1 or 2 bytes, and now he can't play.

There is a test you can do to verify this John.
Start --> Execute --> cmd
Type in ping -l 1 forums.soldat.pl

If you don't get any anwser is because your ISP blocked the 1 byte packets.

Said request timed out.  So I guess it's the 1 byte thing.  Any known fixes?

Other than bitching at your ISP and getting them to change it: no, there is nothing you can do.

I began having this problem about a year ago, and the story was the same.  I had been playing soldat normally for over 2 years before one day, when I couldn't see the lobby server list.

I joined a server using external server list program, (like others), and I would get kicked after one minute, no matter what server I was on.  I tried to play soldat on a computer with the same ISP but with a different connection, and a different modem, at a different location.  Same problems occurred.

I then created a thread in the old forums about the problem, but noone could help me, so I went to MM, and, using my logs, he confirmed that my connection was dropping packets.

I recently built a new computer with really good specs, and I still experience the problem.  I tried to ping forums.soldat.pl with a 1byte packet, and there was no response.  My ISP is frontiernet, and I live in Lancaster county, PA, USA .

I have not played soldat in a year due to this problem, and it is very sad. :(

Same as the others before you: nothing can be done from our end. The only thing you can do is talk to your ISP, but they probably have some reason for blocking said packets, and won't do anything to help you.

For reference:

This is a normal computer:
Code: [Select]
C:\>ping -l 1 forums.soldat.pl

Pinging forums.soldat.pl [67.106.77.193] with 1 bytes of data:

Reply from 67.106.77.193: bytes=1 time=89ms TTL=49
Reply from 67.106.77.193: bytes=1 time=97ms TTL=49
Reply from 67.106.77.193: bytes=1 time=96ms TTL=49
Reply from 67.106.77.193: bytes=1 time=127ms TTL=49

Ping statistics for 67.106.77.193:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 89ms, Maximum = 127ms, Average = 102ms
This is a computer that has an ISP that blocks packets:
Code: [Select]
C:\>ping -l 1 forums.soldat.pl

Pinging forums.soldat.pl [67.106.77.193] with 1 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 67.106.77.193:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

So, to sum up again: your ISP is at fault. Unless they change it, there is nothing that can be done unfortunately.

Hi, sorry to revive this threada again, but seriously, now there is a good quantity of people (at least on Brazil, our forum makes us know that) not being able to play due to this problem, isn't there really anything that can be done? I can't change my ISP. I've never exprienced this problem, except with Soldat...

As has been said a million times already, you need to complain to your ISP.

Sorry to revive this for the 2nd or 3rd time, but does anyone know if this has been fixed on the new upcoming soldat version? My ISP said they can't do anything.
