Use of extra mouse buttons (Mouse4, Mouse5, etc) PLEASE!
« on: May 03, 2007, 07:27:28 pm »
Back in 2006 a thread was created about this. A moderator replied saying if it wasn't already implemented, it will be next update. Well 1.4 is now out and I can't use my extra mouse buttons.

I have a 8 button mouse and I would like to put use to it in one of my favorite all time games. Soldat.

Thanks.

There already are five buttons to your basic scroll wheel mouse. And they can all be implemented.

Now, about your Logitech mouse....I'm assuming it's a Logitech, right? They're the only multi-button mice I've seen.

First make sure that the computer recognizes the buttons. Do this by setting an icon to a certain key, and set it to a mouse button. Set the Soldat shortcut on your desktop (for example), to Mouse7. If you hit the button and Soldat opens, then you should be able to map it.

If it doesn't, make sure you have the proper driver for that mouse.

Good Lord, I hate Windows...

And, if all else fails, use FIRE. Oh, wait, this is Soldat, not Zelda 2.

If it won't map, and your computer detects the buttons, then I'll support this idea.
Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.
All-around good with weapons that aren't long range, except in TW.
Now be careful out there, soldier.

Same here, I have a...thinking...... 6! button mouse, and I don't like how I can't use the thumb. I use all my fingers on the left side and now the right feels left behind.

what's the point? the only extra stuff you could do is probably put the nade and throw button on there, but most people don't have all the extra buttons on our mouses

Why not? It can't be too hard to do, and I would put nade to my back button, reload to my reload button (roffle me woffle), and /pwn to foreward. oh wait, you cant.

Ok well technically I have a 12 button mouse. 2 thumb buttons, 4 index buttons, 1 middle finger button, and the scroll wheels goes left, right, up, down, and clicks.

It's a Logitech MX600 wireless Laser mouse.

Everything I throw at my mouse, it does. Except Soldat. I use my mouse for everything, and I would like to with soldat.

I'll see if there are more recent drivers for my mouse though.

EDIT: nope, I have the most recent driver. So.. When will I be able to map Mouse4 and above?

Uh...WOW...That's quite a mouse you have there.

All I know is that right click, left click, scroll wheel push and scroll wheel roll up/down work on mine. I suppose if it doesn't work for you then either MM needs to do something or you could use a program to make the extra buttons map to unused keys on the keyboard. Then you could map the controlls to those keys and be off.
I am but a figment of your imagination. You are creating me to see what perfection is.

I think I played soldat with a 8 button mice before at my friend before I had a computer(before 1.2.1). I think I put one of the side buttons to throw grenades. So how come this isn't possible then ???

So your saying that those with multi-mouse buttons cannot use them at the moment?

I own a typical 2 buttoned mouse with scroll wheel. I use the button of the scroll wheel as the drop-weapon command. But yes, it i would support this idea.

I've tried to map the commands to my mouse (a logitech Mx500) but the game only recognises the two regualr buttons, and the scroll wheel (in only on direction there I might add). That leaves me with seven button functions I can't use in Soldat, but work prefectly in any other game I play...
