Stop, drop, and roll!
« on: May 06, 2007, 08:31:51 pm »
Ok, I love how lava polygons put you on fire. I was making a kz map with lava polygons though, and I noticed: rolling doesn't kill the flames! I think that it should be made that as long as you are not in contact with the source of flame (lava poly, flamer, flamed corpse, etc) rolling should put you out. Now there is not much need for rolling, I see it very infrequently, but this would make it a (tiny) bit more common. Hopefully.

Edit: As Blue_Ninja said, maybe you should have to roll 2wice or 3 times or something in order to make the flamer not suck.

Just like in real life, eh? Not a bad idea, although I have never been on fire myself. Support! Plus, rolling three times should stop the flames. We don't want the flamer to become useless.

That's a great idea.  I'd like to see this added.

LOL!

Realistically funny, and useful.

Support.

But wait, what happens if you have some guy with a flamer and he sets you on fire, then you try to put it out, but in the middle of the second roll he flames you again? What happens then?
Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.

Yeah, this is cool. (Although I would like to point out that rolling does already happen quite a bit. Well, for me it does ;) )

Hmm, I've never come across lava polys yet....So I guess this is pretty low priority. But it is a cool idea.

Then you would relight and have to get rolling again. Sucks to be you.

I find it funny how the flamer could just stand there watching you roll like an idiot and keep flaming you. Then you'd die.

That kind of defeats the purpose of stop, drop, and roll, doesn't it?

Hopefully you don't suck enough to let him do that. If you do you diserve the humiliation/pwnage.

Well maybe you would first move away from the guy with the flamer, and THEN roll.  Seriously, people come up with the most ridiculous objections.

Yeah, lol. Besides, if I'm being flamed I attack, not defend.

Is there even such thing as defending in a DM game in soldat?

I wouldn't mind it at all. Just that the soldat would be completely exposed to any attack during the rolls. I'd rather run to a health pack than start rolling on the ground waiting to be killed.

Interesting idea, it'll take some time and work to program this into Soldat, but it'll be worth while.
