My Server Lags Like Hell

Well, my previous problem I had in this thread I figured out wasn't really a problem. Now I figure rather then making a new thread I'll update this one with my newest problem. Please tell me how to prevent lag because now my server lags like hell, even for me. Thanks in advance. It is of course a server run through my computer by the way.

Hi,

This problem can have several causes.
1) Your ports aren't forwarded anymore.
     Use the Port Checker to check if all ports are open (PASSED).

2) The map name is wrong.
     This usually happens on Linux servers. Linux has case-sensitive filenames, so ctf_B2b.PMS is not the same as ctf_b2b.PMS or ctf_B2b.pms. You have to open the server's consolelog and check the file requests. Then compare the name that was requested to the name and path of the file on the server. Also, maps/ctf_B2b.PMS is not the same as Maps/ctf_B2b.PMS so pay extra attention to capitals.

I typed in the server IP or find it one the server list. Can't anyone do that?

FliesLikeABrick brought up a good point there. You have to join your server via the IP 127.0.0.1 instead of the one in the server list. Connecting to 127.0.0.1 means you connect to your own PC.

That works, but it's still lagging. Suggestions?
I also notice that when the lag happens, it claims that I'm flooding my server or others are flooding it.

Try running diffrent maps maybe, there was a bug in the old Soldat version though I don't know if it's fixed in 1.4 or not.

Besides editing the connection settings in the Soldat.ini file, I think I'm out of suggestions now. :/

Thanks for all the help. I'll try all of these suggestions and see what works. While you're here, can you help me with one more small problem I'm having? I've fowarded all the ports required to play, but for some reason, the one that has to do with remote admins (23073 TCP) isn't fowarding, even though I fowarded it. That means I can't add remote admins. Please give me suggestions if you have them for this as well. I'm sure you've done all you can to help so far.

You could check if you forwarded buth TCP and UDP protocols for the 23073 port.
It could also be athat your ISP is blocking that port, but that'd be very unlikely.

Did you try the port, tester? If so, what ports failed?

23073 TCP failed but I did foward it. Maybe it's the unlikely possibility of my ISP blocking the port.

I just noticed something about my lag problem that might be key. On every server I go to, my ping is very high now. It was never this high before. It spikes over 100 reguarly now on every server. Any ideas now what might be causing the problem?

Hmmm, might be a virus scanner or something?
It might be helpful to check the programs running in the background to see if something is extremely busy. Your problem is starting to sound more performance related than connection related, except that for the 23073 TCP port.
