Random Ping Question
« on: July 01, 2006, 08:16:49 pm »
I was wondering if someone could explain to me why my ping fluctuates so quickly. If I hit f1 and look at other players pings they stay relatively around the same number(i.e. 100-120), but mine jumps around to random numbers like 33, 120, 200. Sometimes back and forth between two numbers.

Im assuming this is bad was wondering how I can fix this.

Running on:
CPQ Deskpro EN
P3 1.0g / 512RAM
GeForce 64MB
Intel Pro 100 NIC  (<-- is this my problem?)

it's not really a problem.

the server cannot give you the exact ping and sometimes lies about the ping.
your setup is fine but the ping fluctuation is because of the meir nature of the internet
There are other worlds than these

But it seems kindof strange the im the only one whos ping jumps all over the place and the others stay roughly the same no matter which server I connect to.

My ping changes the same.  It is partially because i am using wireless internet and because my bro is usually playing world of warcraft will i try to play soldat.  I dont see a problem with it. My ping doesnt go over 200 so im ok ;D

All the time my ping jumps from 0 to 33 and back, and less commonly to 200-500 when my computer freezes up. Everyone elses ping stays relatively around the same number (50 or so), and jumps less often. I thought this happened to everyone, actually.
