A big mistake in game physics...
« on: July 02, 2006, 08:23:43 am »
Not sure if this should be here or somewhere else, but if you don't know, bullets do NOT ricochet like they do in Soldat... If they do, it's with the power of a co2 powered softgun. Lead is quite soft you see, and it melts or is ripped apart when it hits a hard surface, unlike steel bullets (which are useless in combat like this, seeing as they are far lighter and would not be as accurate or as powerful) which bounce when hitting hard surface at an angle.

Did no one consider that lead isn't very hard? It's used in friggin pencils! A pencil ricochets, but we don't fire pencils now do we?

Seems to me like ricochets already do lose enough power. A ricochet can save you from a Barret shot, so...

What Enesce said.

Besides, ricochets are quite useful in 2D games like Soldat.

I like them cause they're fun.  In real life dual desert eagles would break your wrists, but what fun would only one be.

That's not lead..

Ricochets are fun and Soldat would be pretty boring otherwise

So, you are complaing about bullet physics and materials and you dont know that the material in pencils called lead is not really lead? It's actually graphite.

There's no suggestion either.

Ricochet kills are the funniest kills ever. When you barret down a tunnel and its like a pinball and kills the law dude lol. Priceless
Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

Your smart 'bout your weapans comrade but with diffrent guns thier diffrent bullets coming from the force of your weapon. Here is an example we take the standerd .9mm for cops vs a S82 the force of the 9 and S82 are really diffrent the 9 use a .9mm bullet thus gaveing its name. The S82 use a slug ment for high velocity and precise accurating. The 9mm is made for 50-100 yards while s82 is made for 1000yds.A 9 cant pentrate 4 inch steel which lets the bullet bounce off a s82 probally can but it work better with a armor piercing roung witch in the slug as cold heart steel in them.So to sum it up it depends on speed the mass and velocity of the bullet and power and you can learn all this stuff on the history channel!!!!!
