New server for soldat-community?

Hi!

Like u can see I offered some free servers, because the prices are very high. e.a. selfkill takes 7€ for an 8-slot-server.

Now I'm thinking about a community-server. Of course, root is expensive, so I've calculated something:
If we find some gamers, who could give me
- 70€/month u get 25 soldat-servers with 8 slots (would be make ~200 slots, 35cent/slot)
- 100€/month u get 50 soldat-server with 8 slots (-> ~400 slots, 25cent/slot)
- 150€/month u get 100 soldat-server with 8 slots (-> ~ 800 slots, ~19cent/slot)

They are HQ-Server (no v-serv-****) with a very good connection (I looked for two big connected servers in germany, I have one connected there, but it is only for my **** but u can test your ping there...).
Of course, there is a "minimum contract term" of 18-24 months, so long I have to pay for it.
The number of soldat-servers and slots are not tested, so maybe u have to close some. But I don't think so, I calculated ~35-40MB mem for an 8-slot server. They won't never be used at all at the same time...

Well, are you interested in it? What do you think about this?

It's a good idea, and there's also alot of profit in this , so you did your research pretty well.
However, if I'd need 25 soldat-servers I'd like to have a dedicated server that is on my name and has a contract with me. Simply because it's a pretty large investment and it'll need alot of maintenance.

thank you for your response.

But I thought on a community-server, which is payed "from all", so everybody who wants can donate a small amount (1€-5€ can also be payed from pocket-money). So there will be a forum, where you can wish a server with specific options, maps etc. Clans oder people, who want to manage their clan-server by their own have to pay a monthly fee for it (but also cheap prices).

I would administrate the server (I'm studying computer sciences at university), so that ~ 2 other people can help me to administrate the soldat-servers - I'm almost 24/7 at a pc or laptop, but sometimes I fall asleep for a few ours so if there are some other people, who could wake me up if one server goes down would be pretty good

Well, I looked at my financial conditions... I can donate 20€ on server one, so I would need 50€/month from the community. If we can get 70€/moth, I would donate the rest for server 2 (30€) to have some more ressources for the feature.

Please write down here, what do you (you=all ) think about it. What would you donate, how often, do you have a better idea...

Indeed, I'm looking for donations too. Once I get my servers up and running, I should have anough money to help the community by donating to new projects such as yours.
