Hey lads and lass'.

I came up with this completely original idea, never before heard of. How about enabling some sort of personal profile, where the common forumer can write a bit of text and add another picture than his avatar? I know it's never been seen before, and you might be intimmidated by the idea of something brand new such as this, but give it a go, ya?

No really, I think it would be quite cool if you could just write a little something about yourself if you wanted to. Virtually every other forum has it, and it never harms anyone. I think it would bring a more 'personal' touch to the forums. What do you say?

Yeah I think it would be cool. You could add links to blogs or something or how to get in touch with you other than IM and emails and such. People could see a different side of a person, but I agree with skykanden, it should have some limitations or something to "balance" it out a little

yeah, I remember there being something like this back in the old forums, but I do believe it was only with the picture.

I mean, this doesn't have to be much, just one box where you could write a little.

Yeah, it definitely sounds good to me. I only hope it's easy to insert for the admins, don't know if there's a module that does it or if it has to be written manually.

Anyway, sounds like a good idea to write for SoldatPage. "Soldat Profiles"...

What the heck? TWO pictures on the side? I've never heard of that, and it kinda sounds spammy to me, lol (considering how many restrictions there are on signatures, I wouldn't think this would get implemented particularly if it showed in every one of your posts).

Just a few extra fields for personal information and one extra picture would suffice. The forum skin must be kept the same I think, and SoldatForums won't host extra files etc. so the SoldatForums-MySpace idea isn't really realistic nor very interesting I think. Better make a MySpace site and link to it then.

Okay, so I overreacted a little in order to get my opinion through - BIG DEAL!!

I'll admit I can't come up with many of them. Or any, in fact, but that's not what's essential here. I HAVE seen them in the past, but right now soldatforums and Myspace is really the only webpages I ever visit. I rpomise you they're uthere though..

And about the myspace/sf.com thingy.. No need to worry, girls. We'll just have to keep the options limited, and that's it. Also, instead of putting in a number of boxes saying "Real name", "Occupation", Social Security number", "Grand Cayman acc. number" and all kinds of useless* stuff. The profile ardly have to change. Just keep it as it is, but add one final box in which you can write whatever you want.

*You give me any kind of personal information that I can use, and I will rip you off.

Make your own website and link to it! There, you've already got a MySpace. FileAve.com has free file-/ and web-hosting, and you can get a website with the domain <YourAccountName>.FileAve.com. Or, if you have a Google acct., you can go to Blogger.com and use your Gmail acct. (they integrated their databases several months ago) to make your own <YourAccountName>.BlogSpot.com, which has a lot of areas for likes in its profile section, or just one conglomerative Interests area.

It might actually not be difficult to add HTML to make the textbox you're asking for, but I'm just assuming that it is from FLAB's silence in this thread.

Argh.. It's not really the same, Vijcht.
The way I want it, people would always be able to change their personal profile. If they did that here, assuming there's gonna be many pages in your thread, everyone else would never even notice.
And there's the issue of spam! I'm confident that your thread will get spammed up, wheres in my idea the only person who could inflict sam upon it would be the writer himself, but he wouldn't be able to take it out on anybody.

Save time for the admins in coding, possibly find out who truly is interested in you (through comments if they feel like leaving any), and post whatever personal stuff you want, not one-time as in this concept or in having to change the whole thing periodically (and therefore others who check it only occasionally cannot view its history), but in dated entries.

I know there was a mod for invisionfree that added a personal page people could write in, but I don't know about this type of forum (NVM)

I found a couple of mods that do this, as well as something interesting. One is a simple biography, the other is a full custom profile. The "something interesting" is a "profile comments" mod.
