"&" Causes Underline
« on: May 27, 2007, 05:41:22 pm »
In weaponnames.txt, I like to have &s in the weapon company names. It looks cooler to me. However, in 1.4, the & is not seen in-game and the next character is underlined. For example, "H&K MP5A3" in weaponnames.txt would be "HK MP5A3" in-game. This also occurs when I'm typing in-game. When I press "&", nothing appears, but the next character I type is underlined. If I try to do this again, the underline moves to the latest character.

Is there somebody out there who knows the cause of this? I suspect it has something to do with the unicode support.

There is a workaround for this. You have to use double "&". Like H&&K MP5A3

This workaround shouldn't be needed in 1.4.1; I've mentioned this to MM already.

That's a backdraw of the Unicode implementation I think.
Also, MM will have to remove other characters that have such effects aswell. The & sign is not the only character that has a special effect I think.

This signature was broken. Feel free to fix it.

He's just failing to pass in a flag that prevents & from being interpreted in this way, the next version should have the flag passed.
