Just compile it again. That happens very occasionally, with no known causes (re-createable ones, at least).

If someone was nice enough to give me a short walkthrough to finishing, fixing, adding, deleting some elements in this unfinished map...I'd give thanks and credit. :)

Wierd crouching
« Reply #66 on: June 06, 2007, 09:30:31 am »
I made a map with Anna's Polyworks and if I play the map and I tried to crouch, the soldat holds its gun up like it would be next to a collider, but it isn't near any. This problem is all over map, so I can't crouch normally. I think you know, that when near collider you can shoot only 2-3 bullets like that...
How could I solve that? ???

ALL questions go to Help Requests topic!
1. if you are asking about certain map attach it or at least provide a screenshot
2. check if allowed amount of sceneries/colliders/spawns/waypoints is exceeded

Haven't done a map in awhile, and everythings a little rusty, so I ask of the humble master map builders to help me.

I can't waypoint very well, so if anyone can set this up to be a good CTF, I would much appreciate it.

Also, if anyone has any good ideas about the shading, that would also be very helpful.

The atmosphere presented is nice, but try to go into more variety of shading rather than merely black. You may also want to stretch thoe texture; it looks really boring having the polygons' texture repeated in the exact same way throughout the entire map. The grass also doesn't seem to match the polygon colors, in the pit beneath the moon; try making those vertices green a bit, and slightly darken the entire map's polygons overall

Ok, I like this map a lot, it's my biggest one yet (I guess drawing it first really helped!). I'd like some criticism on the layout, since that's what was most concerning me.

The other reason I came to this part of the forums is because my waypointing is pretty lacking. I have the basics down and all, but all my bots get stuck in the bottom cavern. I think most of the other waypoints work... Maybe crossing from the two middle platforms gets them stuck. So, here it is: BIG.PMS.

Go for it: thoughts, ideas, hopes & dreams... (P.S. Sorry if there's something more you need in the attachment)

Hey everybody.
I made a new game mode for which I'm desperate to get new maps.  Check it out and download the .txt and .pms files to help understand what this is all about!
Thnx in advance - I hope this will work out.
Can't think of anything original to put here...

Hey guys, I'm looking for a nice leafy scenery like x-tender's, only the leaves will be close together and shaped like a ship's sails. Doesn't matter how big. It's for an upcoming map and this is the only thing I'm requesting. :)

ok heres my problem:

im making a TW map that has a huge bridge that is about 1590 x 380, and a PNG image. it will show up in Polyworks sometimes and other times it will just be a 1590  380 white box  :P . it wont show up when i test the map on Soldat ever. i thought it would probably be because it is 1.52 mb, so i divided the picture in 4 sections about 385 kb each. the bridge pieces then showed up almost everytime in polyworks, and in Soldat they showed up, but not all together. they rarely all showed up in soldat at the same time.

so before i divide this bridge into tiny little peices, does any 1 know the byte limit for scenery?  [retard] who ever does gets a cookie

looks like a well done map, i like the scenery.

i have some advice for when you set up the spawn points tho. the players will usually end up just in a big war at the very bottom of the map in a design like this. so if you want soldats to use all of the map then i suggest placing twice as much spawn points at the top then the bottom.

GL :D

Dang, I don't remember... I think you should be splitting by dimensions, not by byte size; try divisions of 255 max. pixels

What kind of image could you possibly be using?! lol

heres the bridge http://nightglow.gsfc.nasa.gov/eric_journal_files/sydney_bridge.jpg its twice as big as your screen shows lol.

i did some heavy heavy LOL HEAVY editing to it and then i cut it up, each portion around 255 pixles like u said. the byte size was about 60 kb for each. IT FINALLY WORKS :O w00t

the thing is, i know of scenery in other maps that are over 255 pixles and over even 1mb that worked o_O . maybe its cuz i was testing in 1 player or something.... idk. some advice for mapmakers, avoid hassling with big scenery at all costs!

Sketches of bridges? I might have some gross-looking gates for bridge scenery, if that's what you mean :P
