(IMO)What makes Soldat so superior to all other games is its ragdoll physics and simplicity.

I agree and also its a small download, easy to play these things make soldat so unique and popular

Hey, Abuse is /not/ a Soldat clone! You might as well say that Super Mario is a Soldat clone. Abuse came out years and years ahead of Soldat, and was very different. For one, it ran in DOS. For another, its main attraction was singleplayer, which featured puzzles and scripted sequences.

It also had one thing in graphics that Soldat doesn't... Dynamic lighting!

just let you know, gunster died a thousand year ago.
there were about 200 people who played gunster.
most of them are now soldat players.

Jazz Jackrabbit? I remeber I loved that game back that time. I would probably play it again but I dont know where to get it...

Its 2d platformer with a rabbit that has a blaster cannon and several ammo types for it.

SnDO isn't a Soldat clone, it's a CS-inspired game. That sucks. Oddly enough it has a large following (last time I checked). But yet remember that Soldat was [partially] inspired by CS also!

I call a clone when you can take a game create a mod (thats only a grafic mod) and have an exact copy of soldat.. But if the games are older than soldat.. Dosnt that mean soldats a clone of them? But the only sure way to know if its a clone.. is to ask the ppl who got the idea of the accused clone. So... MM? When were and how did you come up whit the idea of soldat?

I have to point out 2-D side scroller is a genre. Harry Potter isn't a "clone" of Lord of the rings. Counter Strike isn't a "clone" of something like Doom. Can something not be of the same genre?

Worms is definitely not from Liero, its the other way around as Liero was heavily inspired by Worms, the only really big difference is the real time.
