DM Hellbound
« on: June 07, 2007, 07:52:33 pm »
My first map release. Be nice :)

Took several painstaking hours waypointing. No team spawns because certain spawn points would give certain teams an advantage, so it's a free for all! Waypointed for maximum bot mobility. No stuck bots testing it w/ 10 bots on the same team for 30 minutes.

Any comments or feedback, particularly negative feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for the look

edit 2: Re-released with some major aesthetic changes. I decided to keep the red. It is, after all, supposed to be hellish. Fixed some polybugs. I don't see anymore. Also added a pointflag.

I see the attachment just fine.

About the map:
Layout is decent, nothing special. 8/10 for that. A few polygons are a bit spiky for my liking.
Shading looks nice and is overall pretty good. Some places are a bit dull, but overall shading is a 9/10.
Scenery is the biggest problem. The moon and col scenery are good, but the vegetation is just too red. 6/10 for those.

Overall I'd say its pretty nice, especially for a first: 7.5/10.

This is excellent for a first map. Scenery usage looks pretty good, but in a few places the opacity is so low that I can barely see them. Shading looks pretty good. I don't mind the map being mostly red. looks pretty good IMO.
There are other worlds than these

Map looks pretty good, i like the shading and the scenery-placement! But I donĀ“t like maps with so much hight-difference cuz this is not real good for the gameplay but nevertheless map is very well! Keep up workin. Btw: Very good for first map!

Thanks all for the feedback. I made this map intentionally vertical biased as an incentive to get up high so other players/bots don't rain down death on you.

As far as the scenery, yea, I guess it is a little too red. I haven't yet figured out how to change opacity, all scenery was just tinted full red.

Now that I'm getting used to polyworks, I can churn these maps out much faster. More to come...

Opacity is in the same window as the color selector.

The default opacity level is 100, you can change it by tying the number :O

You could ditch the cactuses, and to make a smoother circular route, create a tunnel through the top right platform. Less agressive red colouring, try a better texture, and you've got a great map.

This is a really nice job for your first map.  The colors may be a little too red, but other then that, I find this map to be quite great.

*poke* Re-released with some changes, I guess I can't really call this my first map anymore, having put the experience of making two more maps into this one :) First post has been updated w/ changes. Enjoy

Even though this was bumped from about a month ago :-\...[and I have no life since I'm still up posting]...

Doing that black thing to this map would be pretty garbage. The map is pretty nice as is. It wasn't meant to be underground or cave-like so stop bumping old maps! At least take some time to look at the date of the original post before going on and posting on 20 million old threads.
