I have a question....
« on: June 13, 2007, 07:00:57 am »
Alright. I got a Bass guitar, my brother has an electric....so we wanna play some music with eachother. BUT..... We need to find some simple songs we can play play, but that we like :P But like really simple....We've tried playing some Blink 182 songs so it's easy. But he then says it's to hard and yeah...Any song I say he thinks it's to hard.

So what songs do you think would be good starters.....

edit: greenday has a lot of repeating the same notes, so you learn that and you can basically play most of the song.

Randomly repeat three chords and call it a song. If possible, yell a lot.

You have to be able to play the insruments before you can perform the songs. If he can't even play blink-182 then tell him he's a child molesterer who needs to get off his fat arse and actually learn to play.

We're not going to perform, just gonna play for the fun of it....he can play like 3 songs good that are homo and I want to bash his face in for learning them. He can play some Blink 182 songs...but for only like 10 seconds before he fucks up....by either stopping or going to fast or slow.

I'll try.

Thinks it's to hard. He can play like the first 3 seconds of smells like teen spirit though...I've been trying to tell him to learn In bloom since its such an awesome song.

Sounds like he needs to just practice playing the guitar until he can keep rhythm. Tell him to do at least an hours worth of practice every day for about two weeks, get him doing simple songs like the ones suggested on here, get him to play the whole song out and not just bits of it. If he can't play now, there's no remedy for instant improvement, just practice, practice, practice.

Seconded.  Greenday, even though they aren't the best band in the world, have the easiest songs for beginners and are a perfect way to start learning guitar or bass.

Nirvana is as easy as it goes. Really, if he can't play it, he's got no hope.

Anything by Blur or Oasis. Before Think Tank (except for Out of Time and Crazy Beat) for Blur, I'd say. Think Tank's largely electronic. From the Beatles, I'd say I Am the Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, and Revolution are musts.

And of course, anything (well, not the solos) from Wish You Were Here, Animals, or The Wall.

I know it was stated before but seriously just play something you made. Jam sessions are great, I was in a ton of jam sessions and I never learned one instrument...
