Fuzzy Poly's
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:46:12 pm »
So, I'm working on a new, sexy map in polyworks. I go to save and compile it, and WHAM, right when I play it everything's all fuzzy. If anyone has any suggestions or links, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Your problem comes with the texture you are using, the edge of it I mean. You can always change an edge to match a certain texture by editing the edge file to another texture related name (or so I believe without looking at my folder).

Textures use Edges, so try to see if your edge is doing the fuzzy effect (which it most likely is) if not come back and tell me. See if you can figure it out from here.

Yep, it's the edge.

In order to fix this, follow these easy steps:
1) Go to Soldat->Textures
2) Find the texture that you are using for the map.
3) Copy and paste.  Rename the copy to whatever you want.
4) Go to whatever mapmaker you are using and load that copy of the texture (the one you renamed).

This will help get rid of the edge without affecting the original texture.

First, what are edges?

Second, is there a way that I can get the edge to look like nice orderly grass?

Thirdly, can I just delete the edges folder, or will it crash soldat?

Thanks for the help!

Also, the texture is Rodzynka off of Anna's texture pack (I think).

Sorry for the onslaught of questions, I just haven't done this in awhile.

What are prefabs, and how do I put them in a map?

First, what are edges?

The name itself pretty much explains what it is.  It's an image of a thin line that is placed along the (exposed) edges of each polygon.

Don't change it; do what I said in my last post.

You could... but then again, that wouldn't be the smartest thing to do.

Prefabs are files that contain map components.  You can save polygon structures, sceneries, waypoints, objects, etc. in a prefab.  Prefabs can be saved by importing them and loaded by exporting them (Polyworks->File->Import/Export)

Uggh, sorry for all the questions, I just need an extreme refresher course on this!

Now, I can't seem to load prefabs! I have some lighting prefabs in the right folder but there not showing up in the import menu! Anyone know why?

Hm... I don't think PW supports prefabrications for the lighting tools (they're the most recent functions added to the editor) :-X Perhaps in the next PW ver.

That texture looks pretty nice, a nice mossy jungle like texture!
