This is a video of me last year explaining to my biology class my group's findings on the minimum rate of spread of an idealized infection. The idea is one person starts with the infection, and each iteration, everyone who is infected must infect someone else. The maximum rate of spread is pretty basic, just 2^n for n iterations. But infected people can try to infect other infected people, with no net result, and maximizing this behavior leads to a minimum rate of spread in n iterations. Our group tackled this experimentally by graphing. We were the only group to get it right, though we went unrecognized because we presented at the end of the period and everyone was impatient and kicked us off so someone else could talk about the maximum. We called it NIMUPMSOVMAMVAPTROFS theory.Everyone was whining about seeing the equation but there wasn't one, the sequence isn't defined in a simple way like that. The thing I was trying to show at the end was this page, which is the only sequence on the entire internets that fit our data. I don't have any idea how to derive that sequence's definition from our simulation, but it works, dammit.http://www.vimeo.com/670430tl;dr: I'm the guy with the glasses doing the talking
