Should I partition for Linux? (I have 2 drives)

Ok, my laptop has two drives. The C:\. And the D:\. Should I partition Linux into the C:\ drive? Or am I able to easily install it in my second drive, since my "Windows" Folder is in my C:\ Drive.

Well is your D drive your cd player or your hareddrive. Partitioning creates a new drive basically so I would just choose the one that has more space on it.

My D:\ drive has more space. And the D;\ drive is just like the C:\ drive. So can I just install it? Without having to partition with my C:\ drive?

Yes definitely you can use whatever one you want. When it installs it should edit the master boot record or something like that so it wont matter.

Uhh there will still be a dual-boot, otherwise how will you load it?
Basically a partition is just splitting your harddrive into separate sections. But grub should come with or something close to it. All you need to do is install on a new partition since when you install on a partition it deletes all the data already on that partition.

Use the D drive (clear it first, move stuff into the C drive if you need it). Once Ubuntu (yeah, use Ubuntu) is installed, all you should have to do is restart your computer. Go to the boot menu and set the computer to boot from the D drive. It's much less of a hassle than dual booting from a partitioned hard drive.

EDIT: So, when I install linux into D:\ drive. And restart, there should automatically be a screen where I can boot either Windows or Linux (because I have two drives).

Yeah it should make a screen right after it loads grub or something that allows you to choose betweeb windows and ubuntu.

EDIT: Ok, I tried installing it. It worked until the "partition" part.. it asked me how much I wanna partition, butI don't wanna partition I just wanna install it into one drive. Which is the D:\

so, tell it which drive to install on, and when it asks for partition...but 0.
It should work then.

I believe you must have two separate PHYSICAL hard drives, because its two completely different file systems.
