Games that have good plots and/or writing - in my opinion: Dues Ex, Hitman, Balders Gate II, Metal Gear Solid, Warhammer, Mafia, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Dune and Thief.

Metal Gear Solid, much like why dune is stupid but even worse. The writer is horrible and I laughed all the way through the game.

you're ****ing kidding me. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty had the most amazing story line in any game I have ever played. you have a weird sense of humor. I don't know if it was just me but I didn't laugh at all. well maybe at some of the Codec sequences. The Cut scenes even made me want to play through the game even more. I actually wished they were longer. The game was directed very well, I think the story line is great.
All the characters had their own distinct personalities.

It was funny because it sounded like a 12 year old wrote it who had a fetish for "politics". I mean, it was so silly I couldn't help but laugh. Second, the characters were quite unrealistic and flat. Its just a big funny story because I can imagine the guy writing it thought it was a masterpiece, just like a little kid.

I don't hate everything, I just hate bad things.

The characters were unrealistic because they were flat. Even idiots who emulate the personalities they see in the game have more depth than them because they are naturally human.

Well, the game was originally written by a Japanese writer, maybe you find it funny because when they translated into an English game the story line had to be altered for other-non Japanese. I think the Characters were great, the voice acting was great, and you KNOW the voice acting was good for a video game. MGS depended on realism alot, but it took realistic characters and made them vampires , bomb experts, etc. in a logical way...sort of.

When I say unrealistic, I don't mean fantastical, I mean completely stupid characters. Snakes voice was so damn stupid, but the others were alright. It wasn't funny because of the translation, it was funny because the STORY WAS SO DAMN STUPID!

Where does the stupidity start...Snake goes on a boat to stop a Metal Gear...the boat explodes/sinks..You play as Raiden to investigate the oil tanker.
The characters are interesting..The game would be fucking boring if they used normal people/soldiers..at least they changed it up. IMO a stupid story line would be a girl that gets zapped by an alien, turns into a giant and you have to kill her...and thats a real game by the way. And yeah, the story line can get pretty lame, I can see were your coming from. but I believe the better parts of the game overshadow the lesser, worse parts.

Yes, and the whole origin of metal gear is just boring. The ending is stupid and most of it just incredibly boring shit. The characters are very very stupid, and the alien storyline sounds slightly better than MGS.

Dascoo, I knew ben was being sarcastic and I responded accordingly.

Mario.
were you alive before Mario was 3d?

Yes. The first console I owned was a SNES, and I still have it. I was quite young, though..

Okay I refuse to argue with you any longer, you are obviously right [/sarcasm]. you used the terrible example I gave and said it was slightly better than MSG...If you go on various game review sites the majority says the story line was good. I guess you have your opinion....

If you don't like the storyline and/or writing of those games and politics, what do you like?

Well, there are good political stories, fiction and non-fictions, but I don't enjoy many of them. MGS just failed hard at almost every literature aspect. I enjoy minimalism, some absurdism, obscurantism, and irrationalism in any genre.

I'd say something like Garry's Mod with infinite possibilities would be the perfect game, because it would hold any game within it and you'd basically be God.

Deus Ex is stupid. ****ing bull**** political type novel, a dime a dozen.
You are joking.

You have to be fucking joking.

Deus ex was one of a kind, it was an fpsrpg, the first that was ever made. For you to say that, you must not have played it through.
It isn't political bullshit, it was a conspiracy based game that made you wonder who you could trust and what you could do.

Tell me. DID you play it all the way through?

Or did you just read the story line online?

No, I played both games through. The system and gameplay was great, the story was bull****. What do you think half political novels consist of?

When I say: Dime a dozen, I don't mean the gameplay.
