AUG off-balanced a little.
« on: June 27, 2007, 01:03:20 am »
I just noticed while playing today that the aug is a little off balanced then the last version.

I can't really describe it, besides I can't seem to be able to aim as well as I used to with it.

Well, to start it off a bit... You consider it too weak or too strong? If you think it is too weak... eh, then you're crazy. >_> It's a very proficient weapon to me, and seems perfectly balanced as well.

As for your problems using it: Fire in short bursts if you don't already. It really helps.

Yep, I think AUG self-bink has been increased a bit. Burst-fire works wonders with it, kinda like a small, furious M249. ;D

Bink is when a player's cursor increases in size, thus making aiming more disobedient. Binks can occur 2 ways; one by getting hit by bullets (including friendly fire) or firing Automatic weapons continuously instead of in bursts (dubbed "self-bink").

Yea there making the guns worse...Its not that hard to shot straight you just have to use it like a ak and click every shoot. Also weaving (prone and unprone) helps by ruining reg and getting better bink. I think this game is becoming more like gunz than cs.

As of this new version i have switched to the HK... Whenever they tweak one gun theres always another one to take its place as "most dominate"... it used to be the AUG now its the HK... Just my opinion.

I thought they decreased the self-bink on all auto's, and increased the movement accuracy instead.  I'm pretty sure they did this for the steyr which is probably why it feels different.  I personally would rather have self-bink rather then movement accuracy, since that's easier to control, but that's just me.

I'd much rather have self-bink than movement accuracy on the Minimi.

I liked the old feel, I could get more shots in.
Now I have less accuracynessness

A vast majority of players are using it it clanwars. I hardly see any Minimis running around, or MP5's. It is like 70% of people use automatics in clanwars, and 60% of automatics are AUG's. It is a standard in clanwars. People would like to ask "How well can you aim?", but they ask "Are you good with AUG?". :o

Really, I'm good with all the autos. (I've finally learnt to use the Minimi... again... but it's just not the same. I find it's most effective in TW, since I'm on the ground most of the time.)

I can use the AUG, but I prefer to use the AK over the AUG, since the AK has the taptaping of the Minimi still...

It's funny... first I learnt to use the Minimi, then I learnt the MP5, and then when they both got nerfed, I switched to the AUG, and then I learnt the AK, and then I learnt the MP5 and Minimi again... rofl.

Yes, AUG is very popoular, especially in Gathers (haven't played clanwars so I can't say anything about that).

The AUG is fun and shots faster than most guns. Its a decent weapon but now i feel like its nothing to the ruger, ret and m79 unless you get lucky and the guy misses or stales.

Well, looking at your signature, and text under your avatar, it might feel so in public servers.

This does not apply in privates like gathers, clanwars. There people are really skilled with weapons, and if you know that your enemy is having an automatic weapon, you can say for around 70% that it is AUG. it IS very used in common CW situations, because it is powerful and good all-around weapon. Little nerfing to it won't do any bad, might piss of some people a little, but gains are bigger in this situation.

Balancing one aspect of the game - autos. Thiugh they are kinda balanced already but AUG is a bit too powerful, and clearly most used Automatic anyway. How many minimis can people see in Clanwars or Gathers? ;)

All the minimi really needs is like 1 less movement bink.  Just to make everything a tad bit more acurate.  It's got some deadly power behind it, and a 50 round clip, but even with perfect aim, you'll miss about a third of your shots to the movement acuracy, depending on your distance.

As for the aug, I'd almost say leave it as it is.  It's a very very good base weapon, and I think all the other auto's should be tweaked to be on par with it.
