Tweaking other autos mean that also semis will be weaker in comparison.

and clearly most used Automatic anyway.

lol  I hope you're talking about gathers or w/e.  Cause I'm one pof the very people who play in PUBS that has any real skill with the AUG.  In most PUBS, the most popular auto by FAR is the AK.

I've always though the AK to be overpowered.  It needs less accuracy.  High damage with that is OK, cause 7.62mm will ruin your day.  But the fact that it is dead accurate?  That's BS.  Anyways, I'm gonna stop ranting about the AK now... [retard]

Uhhh...  I think, the Steyr is perfect right now.

AK is underpowered when facing steyr in 1v1 situation. Recent MovemetAcc made it even MORE underpowered. Currently it is about as accurate as AUG, and has lower DPS. It loses more damage over distance so staying close to AUG is most wise thing to do.

People use AK in publics because it has big clip, you need in publics. In private games, that is not so ncessary.

I might have posted this somewhere before, but my opinion is this.

The Steyr has a high rate of fire with accuracy and decent power. With that combination, the Steyr becomes the hot knife that can cut through the butter that is the flesh of opponents. Since the Steyr tends to spread its bullets around sometimes, it is hard to wave the gun around and still maintain this butter knife trait. Also, the Steyr has a very high DPS, but its fast rate of fire and bink reduces this DPS unless you steady your flow of bullets.

What I'm trying to say is that all guns have many atributes, and since there are 4 auto rifles, you need to abuse the way they function and try not to complain about their stats, since the stats change every time the new version of soldat comes out.

I belive i have never, maybe rarely seen a minimi used in a gather. However, steyr is very common because it has great range, fast firing and is more powerfull than the other autos.

AUG is a fucking great weapon on small disctance, burst 8-10 shots each time and it's damn powerfull..
This weapon shouldn't be changed because it's not overpowered at all, its useless in long range battles.

Too many people saying that might bean itis overpowered. ;)

As you might know, in clanscene there are more AUG users than MP5+AK+Minimi users combined. Balanced, eh? :p

I'm not in the clanscene anymore, so I wouldn't know :I
But it might be a little overpowered I guess, but note just a little.
Doesn't matter anyway, I'd stick to the AUG even if it was underpowered ;P

I think there are a few reasons you don't see anything but Steyrs in clanwars. Steyr is a powerful auto, DPS wise (if you can control it, which isn't too hard). But it also has an average clip. The HK has good damage but a higher arc, and even though it has a short reload it runs through its bullets awfully quickly. The Steyr is perfect; big enough clip to allow for some misses in 1vs1 and still get a kill, high power, and fairly quick reload.

The AK doesn't have quite the power of the Steyr, but it has a bigger clip (and takes slightly longer between shots, extending even more), and doesn't arc quite as much; only problem is its reload and inaccuracy while moving, which make it a defensive weapon and not much else. Take the AK a step further and you have the Minimi, but the reload is what really kills it, as clanners RARELY have that much time on their hands.

So, yes Steyr may be a little overused, but also consider it the vanilla of Soldat; it's the generic, good auto that fits every situation. Doesn't necessarilly mean it's "overpowered".

Yeah, this sums up my thoughts pretty well. Basically the only time I'm able to beat an aug user with an ak is if they have to reload, at which point the fact that I have more bullets means I can usually kill them before they have a chance to finish me off.

Sadly, this only happens if they are a bad shot or encountered someone else and had yet to reload, meaning I'm usually getting owned by the guy with the aug. While this means I usually just try rugering, the fact that an aug is usually an assured win versus an ak is annoying.

Overpowered doesnt even really describe the AUG now that Im playing with the current balance more, I think the AUG is where the autos should be, I think the other autos need a little work. Maybe slightly more damage with the MP5 (103-105%), slightly less self bink with minimi (maybe 95%), and something similar to the 1.3.1. version for the AK (slow firing rate, powerful bullets). I also have ideas for the minigun, but I posted that in another topic. I would say the AK and minigun need the most work, the mp5 and minimi could be made perfect with just a couple SLIGHT adjustments.

Good for chasing the efc, at least for me.

There's a counter-weapon for almost anything in this game...
And taking in account that the topic-starter uses m79, it's logical that he would not like the aug. It' quite good for taking out the m79ers due to it's long range.

It does have a long range, but its movement acc and unusual spread when using full automatic firing makes it ineffective at long ranges, actually... it chews through a magazine like the MP5. The Ruger, Minimi, Barrett, or AK are the best choices for countering an M79er.

Actually I find the AUG usable while moving and firing full auto. As long as you let go for a split second every 10 shots or so, it is still effective. AUG is currently the best weapon on Soldat IMO.

Excuse me, but AUGS sadly do not get owned in tunnels, especially those long ones(AKA snakebite) Due to the fact that RICOCHET comes in to play, it kills mp5s, and spases in tunnels. and since bullets' velocity pushes you back a bit, you won't get close 'nuff to get a good shot on them. Though AUG gets owned by good Retters with ricochet, AUGs pretty tough to beat, I'd say less damage(1 or 2?) and NO MORE EXTRA BINK/MOVEMENT ACCURACY cause people are already getting troubles to control it, (imagine newbies start to play when guns hit 110%bink) thats all IMO.
