Here's a neat little site that tells you how many offenders live near you, in your area, etc.  Simply submit your address, city, state, zip code, and the site will then give you a map with color-coded pins, each pin marking the location where an offender of some sort lives.

Give it a try if you are bored.  Here's a screencap of my area.

I assume the darker colors, like red and purple are severe offenders, but the lighter ones are relatively minor ones.

No, Red is child offenders, Yellow is Rapists, Blue is sexual Battery, Green is other. The darker version of the color (White for yellow) is a Work offence.
