Soldat + Vista = :(

I just got a new computer (HELL YES!) with Vista OS. I downloaded and registered Soldat, but ever time I play, Soldat stops, as in totally stops working, about 2-3 minutes into play. I turned on Video Compatibility, but now everything is tiny, and the window reds-out every couple seconds. Any help?

Well from what I've read in other places, Soldat does not like to work on vista. I believe there is a thread about fixing this problem in the Bugs board.

One thing I can think of asking is if you have an administrator account?

Isn't there something in the properties about running vista like xp to run things like soldat?

Vista + anything = :(

I've helped at least 20 people go back to XP from Vista, and I know of many more.  I think I have yet to find someone who truly likes Vista and hasn't had any major problems with it

I think you might've meant Vista + anything = :( there flab.

But it's ok, I know what you mean.

I figure going for vista even at this point is a bad idea. Let all the other fools who got it 'beta test' it. Once the requisite 600 patches are out, then maybe it will work properly.

Well, my question still hangs. Can anyone help me?

Also, I don't dislike Vista, but I don't love it. Some of the add ons like the spell check in any form is pretty cool. The only reason I run it is because it came on my new computer, and I don't feel like crashing it just to get XP back.

[edit]Oh, and does Polyworks work in Vista? I know this is the wrong place to post it, but I might as well while I have a topic open[/edit]

I think you mean VISTA doesn't like Soldat...  Or for that matter, anything.  Why did you get Vista anyways?  Too many problems IMO :-\

I didn't get Vista! It came on my new computer da**it! Can some one help me instead of complaing about Vista??!!

Dual boot with XP, maybe? Just until Vista gets decent. Or maybe ask FLAB to help you revert.

Grim, we can't help you.  We don't know anything about Vista and there's no way for us to figure anything out.  That's the downside of a closed-source, proprietary operating system.


As for your "add-ons" like spell-checking any field... those features have been in Firefox for over a year.  Are you using IE or something?  http://getfirefox.com

Thanks for telling me there's nothing to do. I just wanted to know if there was.

Also, I just haven't had my own computer for over 2 years, that's why I thought it was Vista.

Is there any hope for PW?

There have been many people asking about how to get polyworks working on vista, I've seen lots of posts.  Try using the forum search located at the top of the page, as well as browsing the fan apps forum and the mapping help forum.  In particular, look in the polyworks release thread.

I have vista home premium 32bit and I run 1.4.1 without problems without video compatiblity and XP compatiblity and others... nothing. So I dunno why you have these problems.

It could be so, I am also an unhappy Vista user, but Soltat works fine. I only have Running As Admin + the Windows XP blah blah blah.
